Your eyes were storm clouds
When I saw you yesterday
Out of my living room window
You were standing alone
In the empty street
Your heart as vacant as it wasThe rain was falling
Soaking you to the bone
And I knew that the raindrops
Were masking the salty drops
Raining down your cheeks
And hitting the pavement
With the othersYou seemed
oblivious
Numb
You held yourself
Like the rain wasn't present
Like you weren't being bombarded
By the heavens' tearsAnd I thought it my moment
Of watchful silence
As you stood in the rain
Blue eyes rimmed with red
I knew there was not one storm
But two
One around you
And one inside youJ.S
