"I can't believe he's even letting you drive after last time."

"What can I say? He has a sweet spot for me," I grin and Sam rolls his eyes.

"You literally missed driving us all into a lake by mere inches."

"Hey!" I protest, giving Sam a glare, "That is not what happened!"

"Eyes on the road," he says smugly and I do so with an agitated sigh. It's mid winter and naked trees line the road side, each branch shivering in the brisk breeze.

"You could've stayed at home." I remind him, as we pull up into the parking lot of the grocery store.

"I know. I know." he says, leading the way to the giant glass doors. I almost slip on a frozen over puddle, but luckily Sam doesn't notice.

After shopping for what feels like a millennium, we trudge with heavy bags back to the car. We plonk everything in the trunk and relax on the comfortable seats for a few minutes before I actually get to driving.

I blow warm air into my hands and rub them together vigorously.

"Cold?" Sam asks.

"Obviously" I groan but smile as he starts shrugging off his jacket.

"Here," he offers and I accept gratefully.

"Thanks, Sammy," I say, putting the key into the ignition. "I'll make us hot coco when we get back."

"Sounds good," he nods.

We chat until we're about a minute away and Sam goes quiet - I think he regrets lending me his jacket. I put my foot down a little more because I'm itching to get back to the warmth of the bunker, but as I turn the final corner, the unthinkable happens.

The impala starts skidding and I'm powerless to stop it. Sam jolts up in his seat and is yelling at me but all I can hear is my hammering heartbeat. He thrusts his arm in front of me as we hit a tree.

"Are you okay?" Sam asks.

I stare ahead, stunned before slowly replying. "Yes... Oh my gosh, Dean's gonna kill me."

"Yes, Y/N. I'm fine thanks." Sam grumbles and I smirk.

Sam smirks back so I know he isn't annoyed, and we both gingerly exit the smoking vehicle.

"Go on, Sam. Assess the damage. I can't bare to look."

"You've got bigger problems," Sam says, looking to a point over my shoulder. I spin around to see Dean storming towards us - he saw the whole thing.

"Oh no," I whisper as I skirt around to the other side of the impala.

"Oh, Baby! What did they do to you?!" Dean cries as he gets close enough to run his hands over the crumpled hood. His fiery stare immediately turns to his brother, but Sam lifts both his hands up in an innocent surrender. Dean then turns to me.

"You did this?" his voice is so quiet yet threatening -  it sends a shiver up my spine.

"Dean - I - "

"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" He cries and my flight or fight activates - I bolt towards the bunker with Dean on my heels.

"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU!" I hear him scream from behind me.

I carry on sprinting, "I'm sorry! It was slippery!"

"IT WAS SLIPPERY?" he mocks, "SLIPPERY? THAT'S YOUR EXCUSE?"

He's getting closer and I'm running out of stamina. Realistically, what's he going to do if he catches me? Ugh, I don't want to know. Maybe I can get in my car and escape, I'm about 30 feet away from it...

"Dean!" I can hear Sam yell faintly in the background. "Dean!" he cries more urgently, "Don't shoot her!"

My blood stops pumping as fear seizes me by the throat. The deafening sound of a bullet snaps through the air like lightning.

I stand in shock as the passenger window of my car shatters into a million pieces. Another shot, another shatter. I exhale a shaky breath, feeling stupid for even considering that Dean would shoot me. I let Dean catch up and he stands next to me, breathing heavily.

"Now we're even?" I ask in a sheepish, hopeful voice.

"Not even close."

I hear the sound of heavy footsteps and Sam appears on the other side of me.

"I really am sorry." I say again, trying to catch Dean's eye.

After a long silence, he looks at me. "It's okay. Shit happens."

"Geez, Dean," Sam says, "I really thought you were gonna shoot her," he lets out a panicked laugh and I see Dean's lip turn up in a slight smile, but it only lasts for a second.

"If it were you, I definitely would have shot you." he says seriously, before returning back to the bunker, shaking his head.

Once he's out of earshot I say to Sam, "See? Soft spot."
