i'm just going out

i rushed around the house knocking over hampers full of clothing, dropping makeup out of my bag onto the floor. i was headed out with some girls from work, and i only had 10 minutes left to make sure i looked precise.

george sat in his rustic red chair, with legs crossed, eyes staring me down. i paid him little to no attention as i scurried around the place. i could feel the tension brewing, but i couldn't understand why. he knew this night was happening.

"where do you think you're going dressed like that?" his voice murdered the silence. it seemed to slap me in the face as i turned to him slightly,

"i'm just going out." i replied defensively.

"dressed like that? with who? where?"he repeated, leaning forward a bit.

i glanced in the mirror looking at my neatly pressed black leggings, my baby girl pink blouse that had some buttons opened, and my matching black heels that strapped at the ankle. my hair was down, curled at my shoulders. i wore a neutral makeup look, when i looked back at george,

"i'm going out with sasha, michelle, chloe, and janice. we're going to a restaurant called, 'toba cafe' i've told you this already george." i sighed, getting exasperated.

"no..you said you were going to 'ash's lounge'. are you seeing someone else?" he panicked.

i let out a little chuckle, glancing back at him, "oh you can't be serious! of course i'm not seeing anyone else. we're going to ash's after the cafe." i reiterated, putting on eyeliner.

"i'm sorry i'm being a pain julia. i just want to make sure you're not stepping out on us babe. that's all." he replied, sighing as he stood up.

i shrugged at him, "i wouldn't cheat on you george. i mean how many times do i have to tell you that? it's quite insulting." i sighed a bit.

he stood behind me as he slid his hand up my stomach, grasping my tit. i gasped at the sudden contact when george turned me around. we looked at each other for a brief moment when he shook his head, "take this off. it's too loose."

i groaned, gently pushing him back. i grabbed my little black bag, walking towards the door. i shook my head as i left. i got into my car and drove off to the cafe meeting with the girls.

"julia!!" chloe smiled as i took my seat, "you look so amazing." she smiled.

"thank you! all of you look amazing too." i replied smiling.

everyone said thank you in unison, when sasha piqued up, "how's george?"

"ahh he's alright. he was in a mood tonight. for some reason he didn't want me to go out." i shook my head flipping through the menu.

"odd...mark didn't want me to go out either." sasha sighed with a shrug.

"yeah, jason didn't want me to go out either." michelle chimed in.

"neither did todd." chloe added in.

"yeah steven was really weird about it also." janice sighed.

"wonder why?" i shrugged, picking out my drink, "anyways girls, tonight is about us. forget about what our men say, we're old enough to make our own decisions." i crusaded with a raised fist, chuckling.

"well least george doesn't track your every move on life360," michelle scoffed, "jason tracks my every move! it's like he doesn't trust me after being married for 15 years." she groaned rolling her eyes.

"jesus mich. i mean what's with them?! we're women in our mid 30s, i think cheating is a bit too far for us at this age." i replied, chuckling a bit.

"no it is! i'm 35 and he's treating me like i'm 25! it's 2023 girls. we shouldn't have to stand by this stupid shit." michelle spat.

"i agree." janice mumbled.

"so do we." chloe and sasha admitted.

"well fuck it! so do i." i responded.

"well then i propose a pact...that for the rest of the night we don't bring up our men. we just focus on us!" michelle smiled.

"sounds good mich." i smiled.

"yeah it does." everyone else agreed.

that night we got a bit tipsy, but all of us made it home safely at around 1:30 am. once i walked into the house, george turned on the light, "how was it?"

he caused me to jump and scream a bit. i was trying to sneak into the house to not wake him up, but he waited up for me anyways.

"it was...fun." i smiled.

"kiss any fellas?" he cocked an eyebrow.

it was here i glanced at george, "no i didn't. none of us did. ash's is an all girls lounge." i replied, shaking my head.

he grew quiet here as i shook my head, taking my heels off, "look, i'm tired. i'm just going to go undress, then go to bed. goodnight."

"babe! i'm sorry...can you forgive me?" he questioned.

"yeah i think i can." i responded, not looking at him.

"julia? come on." he coaxed.

"why should i?! you're basically proving the fact that you don't trust me." i snapped.

"i'm sorry. i'm sorry." he tried shushing me as i wriggled out of his grasp. i trudged upstairs, slamming the door shut.

a couple nights later i was watching a movie when he came home, "hey babe."

"hi." i gruffed.

we had been fighting these last few days and today was the first day i spoke to him. he sighed, placing his work bag down. i kept my gaze on the screen, i didn't hear george walk up behind me. he placed his hands to my collarbone, massaging them.

"whatcha watching?" he cooed.

"just some reruns of all in the family." i shrugged.

"fun. look I'm sorry about earlier." he sighed.

"i know you are. i am too." i replied.

"do you forgive me?" he questioned gently.

"i'll think about it." i replied softly.

george pulled his hands away from my collarbone as he walked upstairs. i sighed as i continued to watch tv.

***
later that night i was in bed when george came out of the shower, with the towel wrapped around his waist. his mop top hair sticking to his forehead.

i glanced at his abs, feeling a bit aroused. i bit my lip a bit blurting out what he wanted to hear, "i forgive you."

"do you?" he raised a brow.

"yes of course." i responded lightly.

george chuckled dropping his towel as my eyes popped. he laughed as he walked into the bathroom to change. i watched him carefully as i slid into my bed, waiting for him to join me so we could fall asleep.
