I sighed, absentmindedly staring at the huge projection of Magnate Leto's face cast against the wall..
"You ready for PE?" I asked my best- and I suppose now only- friend.
He shook his head. "I swear if we do channelling again, I think I might lose my mind.
I giggled, following his lead down the maze-like-hallways, trusting him to navigate us down the twists and turns of Foxfire. He seemed worn out today though- dejected. His normal exuberant energy and unrivalled curiosity seemed muted. I understood how he felt. That was just how our friendship worked. When we were in a state that we didn't want the rest of the world to see, we went to each other. Not for sympathy, or advice, just for understanding- and the occasional open ears.
"See you in there?" I ask, turning left, into the girls changing rooms.
He nodded. I met Jensi through mutual friends a while ago. I had been friends with Keefe, Fitz and Biana, when all of a sudden, a new girl showed up. Sophie. The elf raised among humans. The one that- it was clear to see- would change our world forever. And she did. She changed my life so drastically, some might even call it ruined. When she had came, she brought along with her all the new friends she had made- Tam, Linh, Marella, etc. And among that group, came Jensi. The two of them seemed misplaced among the group. Neither had abilities, neither was particularly close with the group, and before you could even tell, they had both been basically shoved out like outcasts. That had been my lowest moment. I had been deserted by the only friends I had ever known- all for a girl they had just met. And during that time, I was faced with Jensi. A boy, about my age, who was facing relatively the same thing. We had bonded, and since then, were all the other needed. I exited the changing room, now in my PE uniform, and found the class sitting on different sides of the gym, divided by year.
"What are we doing?" I whispered to Jensi, taking a seat beside him.
He grinned. "Ultimate Splotching Championship."
I laughed. "You enjoy the thought of it now, but when you end up splattered in goo, I will laugh so hard."
He laughed. "That's alright. I'm sure when the roles are reversed I will have no problem doing the same."
The doors swung open to reveal two people- and an ogre- standing in the doorway- one of whom was dragging the bag of splotchers. Keefe, his bodyguard, and.... Sophie. I looked away, the memories fighting to replay and take over my vision. I fought them off, turning back to Jensi.
"Here we go." I tell him, standing up across from him with a smirk..
Seemingly regaining some of his typical energy, he smiled. "Let's do this."
I rolled up my sleeves, awaiting the splotcher.
"L/n?"
