"Why were you with Sophie?" I demanded, shaking my head at Ro. "It was all going so well." Groaning, I dragged a hand down my face.

She didn't even look apologetic. She just sat on my bed, giving her nails a fresh new coat of paint to go with her hair. "The better question is who you were with." Ro said- although, I could feel waves of guilt and shame radiating off of her... Two emotions people commonly felt when lying.

"You already know who she was, don't you." I said, not really a question

The smug waves of pride I felt coming off of her definitely confirmed it. "How'd you figure it out? Did Fitz tell you? Or was it Sophie. It was her wasn't it- that's why you two showed up to school together." I sighed.

"Relax scrawny boy. I'll leave it alone. Only because Blondie told me to though."

"That's not the problem!" I insisted. "She's never going to talk to me again!"

Her response to that was nothing more than a snort. "You'll live. Besides, aren't you always talking about how no one can stay away from your amazing charm?"

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever." It's too late now anyways. By now, she had probably made up her mind- and anything she had said was probably set in stone.

"Want to go find a way to get suspended from school?" I asked Ro. "We barely got any detention for yesterday."

Ro huffed. "You're so dramatic."

"I don't know what to do, Jen." I told him, laying with my head in his lap as he braided my hair.

I had finally caved and told him what was going on after Keefe and I had our argument. I really wanted to stick by my word and move on- but I just couldn't. Keefe had been there for me in times when no one else was- just like Jensi had been.

"Do you want him back?" He questioned, holding my head still as I attempted to nod. "Then just tell him you're sorry- and that you forgive him."

"But I can't." I insisted. "He's with Sophie now. Besides- I didn't do anything wrong. Why should I be apologising to him?"

He sighed, exasperated. "First of all, that's not the point. It doesn't matter who did what- he's done his part to fix the problem and you haven't. He's already told you he's ready to make up but you told him no. Second of all, what's so bad about him being friends with Sophie?"

"Well... I still don't think that means I have to apologise to him." I told Jensi- and I swear I could feel the way her rolled his eyes bore into my soul. "And the problem is her! She's the reason we're in this mess anyways, Jen. Keefe should be able to see that."

Jensi tied my hair off with a ribbon, helping me sit up as he finished. "I don't think Keefe is the problem anymore Y/n- and before you say it, neither is Sophie."

"But-"

"I didn't say that to argue." He cut me off. "But you asked for my opinion, and there it is. Now c'mon- we should be studying for midterms."

I smiled slightly- despite still not being satisfied with his answer. That was the thing about Jensi. He always seemed too hyper to be anyone's best friend- but when it came down to it, he gave the best advice, knowing when you needed someone to show you the other perspective or to simply side with you.

"I don't waaaant to thoughhhh." I whined, rolling to the other side of the bed and choosing to remain face down. Jensi snorted.

"You just want to keep talking about keefe."

I peeked out from the mattress ever so slightly- just to see his eye directly in front of mine. I squealed, giggling and flipped back onto my back. "Maybe,"

He laughed. "Whatever you say."

"What's been going on with you recently?" My father asked the next morning as I headed out to the leapmaster. "You alright?"

"No." I whined. "I don't want to go to school. Don't make me go."

He laughed. "Why, what's up?"

"Long story short, Keefe's back. He wants to be friends. I don't know."

"Do you want to be friends?" My dad questioned- an eyebrow arched.

I frowned. "Well yeah. Jensi asked me this too. But he just doesn't get it- it's not that simple."

My dad shrugged. "I don't see why it can't be."

I rolled my eyes with a groan. "Of course you don't. No one does."

He grinned, coming around the waterfall counter to give me a kiss on the forehead. "I'm just saying sweetheart. Don't make it harder than it needs to be. Have a good day at school." He said, opening the door.

"Yeah yeah whatever. Bye." I said, slamming the door.
