Ben was acting weird. Wasn't hard to tell, he stumbled every time he walked, and he didn't like it when I looked at him for too long.
It was all going well until we got a message that every cabin was to make their way to the head counselor's house. I didn't want to move two seven-year-olds, an eight-year-old, a twelve-year-old, and a thirteen-year-old across a battlefield with the only other person older than me seemingly hiding something important from me.
But we did so. We pried open the door and tried as fast as we could to run to the huge house. There was a force field of its own around the mansion, keeping out the angels.
We knocked on the front door, hoping the angels had the aim of storm troopers as they shot arrows at us. The door swung open, and we all ran in.
Jade raised their eyebrows at us as Ben closed the door behind us.
"Surprising." They exclaimed without a hint of surprise, "You're the farthest away from us, yet you made it first. Well, after the letter was sent out." Jade gestured to the Mammon kids walking around. I spotted Ezra in the crowd; he was pacing back and forth in anxiety, though, I didn't know why.
Ben looked around the room, impressed, he was still holding his prized hellfire in his arms.
I crossed my arms.
"Older kids sleep in the living room, that means 13 and older, guys!" Beatriz tried to create order, "We need more room for the kiddos!"Ben sighed sarcastically, "Dang, I really wanted Jade's hunting room. Y'know, just sleeping by all of those deer heads hung on the walls."
I laughed at this, "You're an idiot."
Before I knew it, all of the cabins were in the house, some wounded from the journey, and others just happy to be there.
I was hungry, so I headed to the kitchen, hoping Erik wasn't there, making his Gummy worm and Jelly sandwiches.
Instead, I found Loona, who was frantically talking to Atticus about something.
"What happens when the house gets too full?!"She panicked, "They're gonna find them!"
Atticus bit his lip in thought, " I dunno!"He admitted.
I walked into the kitchen, raising an eyebrow at them. They went silent. "Alright, what stupid stuff did you guys get yourselves into?"
They glanced at eachother.
"So... There's an angel in the attic..."Loona muttered, voice barely above a whisper.
"There's a WHAT?!"
