Kade's hair was smooth as dappled silk beneath my trembling fingers as I ran them across his scalp and dragged my nails along it.

He stirred slightly, looking down at me where I was perched naked on his chest in the misty sunlight filtered through the cracks in the curtains illuminating him in a shadowy wonder that had my chest clenching in anticipation of the things that were to come.

He loved me.

God, he loved me and he wasn't scared about telling me, either.

The fear that surrounded me about exposing myself and my feelings to him had completely dissipated the moment it all poured out of me like sand through an hourglass.

His suffocating smile tore the breath from my lungs as he stared down at me with something I hoped was adoration in his brown eyes turned gilded from the rays of the early morning sun breaking through our little sanctuary.

I didn't know when we'd fallen asleep the night before, the exertion from our words and actions blending into something resembling pure exhaustion once we laid there in the late afternoon, the sunset blinding as we talked about nothing and everything all at once.

He'd given me a plan to find out what to do about my mother as I divulged more about the Caleb situation.  He'd sworn to have Hollin do everything in his power to remove any of my pictures from the internet if there were still any traces left.

Kade swore to me that he'd bury him, and I believed he would, just by the sheer determination and raw fury on his features that were cast in a scalding moonlit glow once the night had descended upon us.

"Good morning."

There was something resembling a giddy smile on my face.

"Morning."

I hid my face in his chest and he laughed, something beautiful and real and resembling everything I'd ever wanted dawning across his features.

Was this what peace felt like?  I could get used to this.

He looked at me for one second, two.

"Come here."

He hauled me against his chest and on top of him until I was straddling his waist, our chests brushing and hips aligned and eyes connected.

There were galaxies spinning in his eyes as he looked at me and I wondered what he saw looking back at him.

His hand wound its way through my hair and we were lost to each other again.
