Battle of the Knights 3

Kaydon's P.O.V.

I'm waiting for Kayla in this huge library. She supposed to give me this, "lesson" about our history.
What ever the hell that meant. All of a sudden she ran in with a fat folder. She stopped when she got to the table I'm impatiently waiting at. She was breathing hard. Once she got her breathing under control, she spoke.

"OK, so this lesson is about our history. Once long long long ago,"

"Can we maybe not go back that far?"

She glared at me.

"Listen, Kaydon, you need to learn this history so you have a better understanding about what you are up against. Kapesh?"

"Sure. Whatever."

She glared at me again.

"OK, as I was saying, once long long long ago, there were two commanders. One of the commanders' groups was, the White Knights. This group of knights, represented the day, or the good and light on the world. The other commanders'group was, the Dark Knights. They represented the night, or evil and darkness in the world. They constantly fought. It was good against evil. Eventually, they came to an agreement. They would stop fighting each other along as they stayed on their sides. After, give or take a couple hundred years, all the knights had gotten married. They had kids. Those kids, see because the knights were full of magic and power, they inherited their parents ability's. Those kids, had kids off their own, so their powers spread out. It continued that way for a very long time.

Then a couple hundred years before right now, two children that where our age, 19, crossed paths. They fought over some thing. It turns out that these to young men, where the only living decedents of both commanders. The young men, where fighting over a young maiden. Her name was, believe it or not, Kayla. I'm named after her, because I'm related to her. Now, this is obviously not a coincidence. The White Knight's name was Kaydon. The Dark Knight's name, was Lucas. Now, you, Kaydon, are the only living descendent of the White Knight's commander. Lucas, Is the one you are destined to fight against. Lucas, is the only living descendent of the Dark Knights. He was trying to kill you before you could realize who you are. Obviously he failed. But you guys are going to fight, and it will be to the death. Any questions?"

"Uh, what the hell does that all mean?"

She sighed.

"It means you are going to fight against Lucas, and it will be to the death. So either you or Lucas will die. And truthfully, I hope you don't die."

"See is it because you warming up to me?"

She frowned.

"No, I don't want you to die because if you die, I die. Is that clear enough for you?"

I stayed silent, so I could process every thing she just said.

So I'm going to die? Great. I can get rid of living onmy bucket list.

"Hey, don't give up hope. If you want the truth, I like you alot more than I like Lucas."

Wait what?

"What the hell are you talking about?"

She took a deep breath.

"Kaydon, you choose what side your on. Lucas was on our side once. Me and him, well lets just say we were really good friends. But when he heard the prophecy, he decided to follow his ancestors, instead of making his own path. I tried to stop him, but I couldn't."

"OK, let me get this straight. This 'Lucas' used to be on our side, and you two dated? But the he decided to leave and be come evil just because some old dead people were evil?"

"Yep. That's it."

"HM. Wait, you said, that you like me more than him, and you guys used to date-"

"Don't go there. I hate him now. I hate him because of what he did."

"Why would you hate someone for one little thing?"

A pained look came across her face. I knew immediately that I hit a sore spot.

"It wasn't that. It was what he did after he became evil."

"Oh. Um, is that it?"

"Um, Yeah I guess it is. Come on. I'll show you where your room is."

We exited the library and walked down the hall. In some of the rooms, you could hear kids laughing and screaming. When we stopped in front of a door, she said,

"Well, this is your room. All of your stuff is in there."

"Wait Kayla,"

"Yes?"

"Is your badge real?"

She smiled.

"Nope. Its the farthest thing from real."

"Were you actually threatening my family?"

"What? I never, oh, no I wasn't. If you didn't come with me, The Dark Knights would have killed them."

"Oh OK."

"Oh, and Kaydon? If you need anything I'm right across from you."

What? Why?

"I'm your protector Kaydon, that's why I'm near you. Good Night."

With that she left me in the hall. I'm sure what she said had a double meaning. Oh well, I'll deal with it in the morning. With that on my mind, I fell asleep in my new comfortable bed.
