Battle of The Knights 8

As Kaydon went against Ashton, I reigned the protector inside of me. He easily won, and up next was.. Me?!?!

Corbyn placed his hands on my shoulders and steered me to the mat.

"What?? No!! I can't go against him! It wouldn't be fair!! I can't purposefully hurt him!!"

Corbyn laughed saying, "Come on Kay, it's alright. Just disarm him and it's over."

"Ugh!!"

Corbyn pushed me on the mat as Kaydon smirked. I might not be able to hurt him, but he could certainly hurt me.

As Kaydon and I went against each other, I got distracted by a shadow in the corner. I dropped my sword, and said, "What the.."

Kaydon struck me in the chest and I fell back on the mat with an "oomph".

I shot up from the mat and ran to the shadow, except a man appeared and as I jumped toward him, he lept into the shadows and disappeared.

I yelled, "Dammit!!!"

Corbyn along with all my other friends ran over and when Riley, a sniffer, smelled the air, he said,

"Dark Knights."

My anger rises, as he continues to sniff.

"Not just any Dark Knight," he started, "it was Rafael."

My anger turned to shock. Then back to anger.

Corbyn yelled, "What?! Oh hell no!! When I find him-"

"I, will kill him." Everyone turned to me.

"He wronged not only all of you, but me most."

Corbyn sighed. "You're right, he did. But if I see a chance, I will take it.

I lifted my hands up. "Fine by me."

Kaydon raised his hand. "Um, who's Rafael?"

I sighed. "I'll tell you in private."

Ashely snorted and elbowed Corbyn. She wiggled her eyebrows at me.

"Oh my gosh, Ashley!"

She laughed.

I pulled Kaydon out to the hall.

I ran a hand across my face and started, "Rafael Dean. He's... My father.

"He left us when I was fourteen, and burned down our house, nearly killing me, Corbyn, and my mom. I used to be a daddy's girl, until that night. He took everything from us, and now he's back. He hurt me the most. He-he promised me.. That he would never hurt me, or leave me behind. And that's exactly what he did."

Kaydon sat silently.

"Kayla," he started, "I had no clue-wait don't start crying."

I sniffed and turned around. I let out a squeak as Kaydon grabbed me and pulled me in for a hug. I snuggled closer to him and cried.

"Don't worry Kay, I'll never leave you behind, and I'll never ever hurt you. I would rather die that hurt you."

Dad hugged me.

I looked up at him with naive eyes. "Alright daddy, I believe you."

I fell asleep that night, holding the teddy bear daddy had gotten me.

I woke up to smoke flying around the room. Daddy was a fire-starter, and he had set one in my room.

I screamed, and mom tried to get into my room, but the flames were blocking her from entering.

"Kayla!!!" She screamed.

"Mom!! Help me! What's going on?"

"Your father started this fire and left!"

I let out a scream, "No!!! He wouldn't!!"

"He did!! I called the water works! They will be here shortly!"

It was so hot, I swear my face was burning off. More importantly, my neck. I let out another scream, then I shot up.

I let out another scream and tried to untangle myself from the sheets that were suffocating me.

Kaydon burst into the room. "Kayla! Kayla what's wrong?"

I continued screaming even though the dream was over. No, memory.

I kept screaming until Kaydon wrapped me up in his arms.

"Shhh, Kayla, Kayla it's ok. I'm here. Don't worry, it's just a dream. I'm here, and I'll never leave you."

That brought back the words, "I'll never leave you," and I started crying.

My door burst open and sounds of feet stormed into my room.

Kaydon said, "It's alright, it was just a dream, you guys can go back to your rooms now."

His voice was commanding, and demanded them to listen.

When they left, he turned back to me and asked, "What is one thing you love to do?"

I sniffled. "Archery."

"Alright then, teach me how to shoot a bow."

{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}

Kaydon shot at the target, missing again.

"Ugh! I can't shoot a bow to save my life!"

I giggled. He had missed the target the last forty-six times. He only hit once, and even that was on the edge. It was already morning, and Corbyn with everyone else would be coming out soon.

Right on clue, Corbyn yelled out,

"Kay and Kay! What's up?"

He hugged both of us with one arm. I rolled my eyes, and Kaydon did as well.

We all got situated and as I was laughing, something whizzed past Kaydon and struck me in the stomach. I gasped, and everyone turned to see my fall on my back with an arrow protruding from my stomach. Kaydon rushed to me. My world started turning black.

:o oh no!! Not our little Kay! :( what did you guys think about her dad? Bet ya didn't see that one coming ;) well, maybe you did.

But anyway I really hoped you guys liked it! Please leave your feedback and happy Friday!
