Fade to Black

1 month before the tragedy

All was peaceful in the city-state of Schrade at the time, waging wars on neighboring cities and territories, trading, and the harvest was very plentiful meaning lots of food. Defenses like cannons and new prototype weapons like the roaming Bastille were set up in case they were attacked by invaders or monsters. Walls were built, defense towers stood over the city, and something else, very powerful, was constructed too. The dragonator. A huge, spear-like contraption used to keep monsters away from the city, such as the horrible Aletreon which was in the secluded valley at the time. Schrade's ruler, king Alexander, also known from his nickname as Warlord Alexander (because he wages so many wars), was planning a attack on a city a few miles away, called Ozark. Training their hunters and soldiers for battle was difficult for they only had a few days, but Schrade was planning to invade soon. Although there was a small problem nobody realized. Ozark was heavily fortified, and they were low on experienced and trained soldiers because of the low quality training. Nonetheless, on June 5th when they received information from scouts that Ozark seemed unprepared and unaware, they launched the invasion. About 5 days later, they managed to break through the outer walls and destroy their cannons, but could not progress further after being counter attacked and halted by Ozark defenders.
