The supplies for the forces in Ozark were running low, making their task even harder. Food and materials from their allies did help the troops, but not nearly enough. Schrade's 2,348 soldiers in Ozark were trapped in the other half of the city, having to rely on cannon fire and arrow to narrow down the enemy. Some hunters and fighters snuck around the ruins of a church and took a group of defenders by surprise and took more control of the city while making their assignment easier. After 3 long, hard weeks of trying to take the city, combat, and stealing resources, it looked like Schrade's forces would soon have to retreat. However, since Ozark's water was being used and blocked off by the raiders and constant bombardment from enemy cannons and guns were killing civilians and wrecking buildings, they were forced to surrender so their people didn't entirely die off and keep the city from being totally destroyed. After their victory, the Soldiers were moved and ownership of the city was given to Alexander's son, Jackson, by his father. Food supplies were restocked and were moved to Ozark to support future citizens. More crops were planted to prepare for the winter months and necessities and food were being stored in chambers for support during the cold.

Although nothing could prepare them for what was to come...
