"minho!"

a voice called out to him. it sounded echoey and so far away.

"where am i?" minho muttered, looking at his surroundings. but it was just dark, with a light source that he couldn't figure out where it came from. water formed underneath his feet, but he wasn't wet.

"you're unconscious." the voice now sounded a lot closer.

he looked to his right, and there she was, standing beautifully in her favourite pale yellow summer floral dress.

"you look beautiful yeonie." minho smiled, taking in her beauty once again. it felt so nostalgic as he heard her flustered giggles once more, and how his arm instinctively ruffled her hair. and as usual, she'd whine about it.

minho frowned, "yeonie-ah, i'm sorry i couldn't come to you quicker." a tear escaped his eyes, "i-if i did, y-you would have survived!" he cried, pulling her in for a hug. he didn't think he could, he thought his arm would pass through her, but it didn't. she felt real. warm and solid.

"i don't blame you minnie..." hwiyeon sighed as she leaned her head onto his shoulder. "i could never blame you. you've tried your best, and i saw it coming. moreover, if you were to come, you would have been dead instead of me." she reasoned to the sobbing alpha.

"you're a great man minnie." she chuckled as she rubbed circles on his back. it was the only way to calm him down. "you have been nothing but loving, caring, and gentle. you took care of me really well, and honestly, i miss it. i miss you. i even had thoughts of being your bonded mate back then." she continued, detaching herself from the alpha.

"but if i didn't die, if i didn't go, you wouldn't have met jisung. you wouldn't have saved jisung and you wouldn't have a predestined mate. hell, he wouldn't be able to have one too. jisung would have never felt real love, or met a new family that actually treat him well. he would never have met you. things happened for a reason minnie. i don't regret it one bit. you know i'd die without my brother, and that i'll die for him too." it was now her turn to cry.

she was grateful for the day minho saved her and her brother from getting trafficked. she was grateful for the love and support she had gotten from him and the rest. she was grateful for everything he had ever done for her. but she was only a little sad that she wasn't the one who would grow old with minho.

but that's fine because jisung's strong. jisung's lovely and he would have been a better fit for minho anyways. that's how she would love to believe.

suddenly, everything changed. the scenery, the ambience, and her outfit. they were back in the old mafia's house. before hwiyeon's death.

everything felt so bittersweet. just looking at each corner of the house reminded minho of so many memories. from them, bickering, to them actually fighting (physically and verbally), and them comforting each other.

he took a slow spin, glancing around the house as he took in all those nostalgic moments once again. he's eyes soon laid on hwiyeon who had been waiting for him on the stairs, leading up to the bedrooms.

up the stairs, to the right, second last bedroom on the left. that was his and hwiyeon's bedroom.

he had to suppress a sob as he pushed the door open. the bittersweet scene was too much for him to handle. "h-hwiyeon...why are you showing me this?" another tear escaped the alpha's eyes.

"i just wanted to spend one last moment with you in my favourite place where i call home i guess... i'm sorry... it must be selfish of me..haha" she sadly chuckled. turning away from minho as she walked over and flopped herself onto their old shared bed.
