TRIGGER WARNING
contains detail of sexual assault

Three words one sentence
"I love you," he says
But those words are merely words he says to keep me calm
But the truth lies under his breath
Under his tongue
A bubble trapped in his throat
Then I remember his hands gripped around mine
The air rushing to meet my lungs
As I take my first breath
After he let's go
But he wasn't done
His hands grip my wrists this time
Holding them down so he could grind his pelvic muscles into mine
I remember his hands on my breasts that were not his to touch
I couldn't breathe
I couldn't move
I was frozen with fear
I didn't know what to do with his hands on my body
The body that was not his to hold
Those three words return
Only this time I know he is a snake
And his words are his venom
I am not safe from the attack creeping up on me
I run but there's nowhere to hide
From a snake slithering up behind you
He holds my hand
He smiles at me
"What a sweet boyfriend"
Everyone says
But they were wrong and so was I
You see I thought I could change him
That he would change for me
But there's no hope for a man with an unruly heart
I've grown to hate those three words
One sentence
