Katie’s P.O.V

Jack and I sit on the couch watching Home Alone and eating popcorn. Thinking about the wedding I realize I’m missing one significant person. I look at him and confess, “Jack, I don’t really have a father figure in my life. I’ve really never had. Would you walk me down the aisle?”

Taken back by my question he looks at me and smiles, “Of course I would! As long as you don’t mind me making dick jokes the whole time.”

We lounge around for the rest of the day until Alex finally comes home late in the afternoon. He waltz’s into the living room and announces, “Katie get your stuff. I have a surprise. Just pack an overnight bag and come on.”

I slip on my jacket and we head to the car. Sitting in silence listening to the radio I start to figure out where we’re going. After about an hour of driving to Blink-182 we arrive at a beach house in Sea Isle my friends and I used to stay at during the summer. The house sits right on the beach and the balcony overlooks the beach and the water. Since its midwinter there is not a single person in sight. After sitting in the kitchen and having a few drinks we bundle up and go to walk on the beach.

Walking up to the entrance of the beach, it’s cautioned taped off with a bench in front of each of the two fences. Alex jumps over first then picks me up and swings me over. After climbing over the last on we land safely on the sand. We walk hand in hand for a while watching the moon lit water crash on the shore. Seeing the empty beach at night and being there with Alex hits me harder than it should. I look up to him and confess, “I don’t know what it is about tonight but I just feel alive,” a few tears start to fall as I continue, “It’s like all those problems and all the sadness that I feel sometimes is gone. Being here with you makes it feel like we’re living in our own little world. I’ve made it through everything I’ve been faced with so far and I’m just…I’m alive.”

He gives me an understanding look and pulls me into a hug. Lifting my chin he kisses away the tears. “That’s exactly what I wrote Six Feet Under the Stars about, situations just like this. No one can break as apart right now. No one can break us ever.”

We walk down the beach in a comfortable silence for a while longer until the cold starts to get to me. Alex wraps his jacket around me and we walk back to the house. I crawl into bed and wrap myself in Alex.

I wake up my next morning to someone nudging me awake. I flutter my eyes open to see Julia, Brittany, Cassadee, and Tay standing above Alex and me.  “How did you guys get here and what do you want?” I mumble.

In unison they all yell, “Dress shopping!”

Tay jumps in and informs me they got an appointment at the best boutique in our area. We eat breakfast then head out.

We arrive out the store and a lady welcomes us shaking all of our hands and says with a sweet voice, “How are you ladies doing today? My name is Sabrina and I will be your sales associate. Which one of you is our bride?” We all exchange smiles and I raise my hand. “What kind of style do you have in mind?”

“Well I really don’t like ball gown or anything fluffy so I’m thinking a mermaid style,” I tell her as she leads us all back to a seating area in front of the dressing room with a platform for brides to show off on. I sit down in the dressing room while Sabrina goes to pull some dresses. She comes back with about five dresses. After trying on two of them they turned out to be nothing special. She takes the garment bag off of the third and I immediately can’t wait to put it on. I slip into the mermaid cut gown to see an extremely beaded bodice that goes down into cream colored tool on the bottom.

I can’t help but walk onto the platform smiley like an idiot. They all are in absolute awe. “Katie that is absolutely your dress. You have never looked more beautiful in anything,” Brittany says. They all nod as I really take myself what I look like in. A few tears come streaming down as I realize this is the most beautiful I have ever felt.

“This is my dress. I’m definitely buying it,” I say excited. I take the dress of and get dressed back into my regular clothes. I bring the dress out and Sabrina helps us check out. We get the dress and head out of the store completely satisfied with my purchase.

There's the dress. You guys really need to start commenting and voting please. I'm begging you please! Thanks to everyone reading and sticking with me this far. Love you all <3 - Katie
