"Sometimes it's better to tell a secret than live a lie." -Raven

Chapter 11

Crow grasped onto the tree, swinging Raven onto a branch. He lifted himself up, gasping for air. Crow took in a deep breath, shooting himself onto Raven's branch. Raven screamed, holding onto the branch desperately as it shook.

"Hey! Shut it! We don't want to get caught," Crow hissed, putting his hand on Raven's shoulder.

"This is an awful time to say this, but I have acrophobia," Raven stuttered out.

"I have no clue what that means. Now, just hold on and you'll be fine."

Raven grabbed onto Crow's back, muttering colorful words towards him. Crow shook his head, jumping across several branches. He could hear Raven occasionally squeak in fear, causing Crow to fumble. Eventually he came to a stop, keeping his hand over Raven's mouth.

They could hear running below them after a few seconds. Men were screaming, along with the barking of lynches looking for them. They looked around, before the foxes caught a scent and doubled back. Crow grabbed Raven, getting them out of the tree.

"I missed that old thing. It doesn't matter, at least we'll be safe," Crow muttered, holding Raven close. "Well, we-"

A sudden noise of a shot cracked through the air, accompanied with a searing pain in Crow's leg. He gasped, tearing up. He groaned, grabbing onto Raven's arm. Despite his attempt to stay up, he fell onto one knee.

"What...just..." Crow sucked in a breath, holding back tears. Crow looked up at Raven and saw a hole burnt through his jacket where his heart would be.

"Raven! Are you-" Crow was cut off.

"Crap! I'm fine. Are you okay?! You're the one who got shot!" Raven said, moving to help him up.

"Agh! Y-yeah, I'll be fine. What happened? Did the police get us? I don't see anybody..."

"No, my gun misfired. that's my ba-"

"GUN?!"

"Oh. I forgot to mention that, didn't I?" Raven said, using his free hand to pull out his gun.

"You-Who-I-GAH! IN THE NAME OF ASTER THE HOLY I SWEAR TO B-"

"Hey, hey! We'll get you to Felidae, ok? You'll be fine. You'll have a bad burn at most."

Crow hissed in pain, doubling over. Raven sighed, before picking Crow up. He grunted, not expecting the weight.

"You'll be ok, I promise," Raven comforted, walking in a direction. Crow looked at Raven, concerned. Raven just smiled at him, as if trying to comfort him. Crow groaned, throwing his head back and looking at the cloudy sky. He tried his best to ignore the sharp pain in his left leg.

In what seemed like a whole decade to Crow, Raven had finally gotten them to the spot. Felidae was waiting outside, nervously bouncing his leg.

"Boys! Woah, looks like Crow really is holy-" Felidae started.

"I am not in the mood right now. I feel like I'm dying," Crow groaned.

"Hah! So Barak wanted revenge, I see? I guess lightning does strike twice."

"Raven shot me with a gun! That is in no way Barak's doing."

"He is the god of lightning..."

"So is Elektra! Could he just smite me?!"

"Looks like you've already been smitten. In both ways."

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! I JUST GOT SHOT BY RAVEN! WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH-"
