Chapter 9

The fire danced in front of him. Its warmth comforted Crow, who was sitting next to it. He heard the ground crunch, causing Crow to look over. Felidae smiled and waved, sitting next to Crow.

"I wanted to talk to you, kid," Felidae grumbled.

"About what?" Crow slurred, looking over.

"Raven."

"If you're going to talk bad about him-"

"No, no. I would never be mean to him."

"Yeah, but you're fine being mean about him."

"Why are you so touchy?"

"Why are you so cruel?!"

Felidae stood up angrily. "I did nothing to you. I did nothing to deserve this."

"You did everything," Crow growled, standing up.

"What will you do about it? Fight?"

Crow huffed, before crouching down and darting at Felidae. He tackled Felidae to the ground, causing him to hiss in pain. Felidae shoved Crow off of him, causing him to fly back. Crow looked up and saw the fire behind him. He tried to get up, but Felidae tackled Crow. Felidae shoved his arm into Crow's neck, pushing him closer to the fire.

"Listen to me, Crow. I did nothing to you, got it?" Felidae angrily asked.

"But-" Crow was cut off, shoved closer to the fire. He could feel the heat on his cheek, along with a sharp elbow on his throat.

"Ok, Ok. I get it. You did nothing," Crow fumbled.

"Good," Felidae said, helping Crow up. He patted the smaller man on the back.

"You won't say anything to Raven, right?"

"Yeah, yeah. I won't."

Felidae smiled. "Look, kid. Your father did that to me once. You're not nearly as strong as him."

"I know. I'm not him."

"You're his son, though-"

"I am not Leon. I am Crow, Felidae. Cut it, please."

"You have no right-"

"I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO TELL YOU TO STOP!" Crow's throat felt sore. He breathed in, choking back the tears.

"Is this about-"

"You know nothing about Raven and I, absolutely nothing. So, shut it. I'm done being pushed around by you."

"You aren't acting so holy. Didn't you used to be in the Asterox?"

"We do not ever talk about that. I am not that person anymore. I-"

"I thought you still were one. It said so on your profile. You had the mark on it."

"It is a bad spot on my record."

"You were a holy man."

"I was nobody! Nothing but a fool who was manipulated into an awful situation!"

"Big words from you."

"Shut it! I have gone through enough to recognize when someone is being wrong to me. I was fooled once, but never again."

"Are you and Raven still together, then?"

"As long as he loves me, then yes. I assume so. I won't let anyone touch him, especially you."

"Possessive."

"No. I am justified in this. I won't let you hurt him, like you hurt me," Crow spat, turning away. He stormed back to the tent, ignoring Felidae's words. He walked to Raven, lying down and resting his head on the other's chest. Crow huffed, calming himself.
