★ CHAPTER 6 - Odd... ★

(AK'S POV)

When I woke up the sun was shining through my window. Yesterday felt like a dream but clearly it wasn't since I'm in my own bedroom. I'm so excited that I have a dad now! And even better, he's a YouTuber! He's friends with my favorite YouTuber too which makes me wonder if I can meet him. My favorite YouTuber is 8-BitRyan. When I met Lewis at the adoption place I knew he looked and sounded familiar, especially his last name, and turns out it's because he's been in 8-BitRyan's videos. I don't remember going to my bedroom so I must have fallen asleep on the couch considering I am still wearing the same clothes and everything. I got out of bed and changed my clothes before leaving my room. Lewis' bedroom door was shut but his office door was open so I assume he must still be asleep. I'm... not quite sure what time it is. Maybe I should wake him up!

I walked over to Lewis' bedroom door and opened it. It was dark because there were curtains covering his windows, my bedroom window doesn't have curtains because it's small and higher up. I went over to his bed and he was there fast asleep and his bed was a mess, his hair was also a mess. "Lewis?" I said as I stood next to his bed. Huh, maybe he's a heavy sleeper? "Lewis?" I said a little louder, slightly shaking his shoulder. He moved around a little and made a mumbling sound. "Lewis?" I said again. I feel bad waking him now...

Finally, he opened his eyes and looked at me for a minute. "Good morning, Lewis!" I said, smiling.

"Wh- Huh? Who- Um, good morning... kiddo...!"

Did he just ask who I was!?

"It's me, AK!" I said.

"Oh! Yeah, AK!"

"Um, are you okay, Lewis?"

"Yeah."

"Ok! I'm just gonna go sit on the sofa and watch TV."

"I'll be there soon, I just gotta um get ready. But yeah, have fun watching TV."

"Um... Sure, I will!"

I left Lewis' bedroom and went to the living room and sat down on the sofa. Why was Lewis acting a little odd? Maybe that's just how new parents are? I don't know. I'm gonna ask him if he can take me shopping today so I can decorate my room and maybe get some new clothes! I turned on the TV and decided to watch something. Lewis must have just been very tired and still half asleep when I woke him up and he forgot I was in his house. Well I guess I'll just wait for him.

It seemed like I was waiting forever but then finally Lewis appeared behind me, he kind of startled me at first. He just stood there looking at the TV and then he looked down at me and he smiled. "Hey, AK! What are you watching?" He said.

"I don't know, just a random show I put on."

"Oh. Well uh, are you hungry or anything?"

"Yes, actually!"

Lewis made breakfast for me and him. We sat down to eat. Maybe I should ask him if he'll take me to the stores today! He was drinking his tea so I waited until he put the cup down so I could ask him.

"Lewis?" I said. He didn't seem to hear me. "Lewis?" I said again. What was going on with him today?

"Huh? Oh, sorry! What's up?" He finally said, looking at me.

"I was wondering if you could take me to the stores today so I could get some decorations and stuff for my room!"

Lewis stared at me for a moment before finally talking again. "Oh. Yeah, sure! We can go later today." He said.

"Ok!" I smiled. It feels like it has been years since I've decorated my own room so I am very excited! I'm... a little sad though. I miss my old bedroom, my old home, my old parent... But I'll push through. I still need to unpack the stuff from my suitcase from the adoption center! I don't really have much aside from clothes and some books and stuff, also my tablet. Maybe I could ask Lewis if he could get me my own phone! He might say I'm too young but it's worth a try, that's what the caregivers at the adoption center told me. It's okay! I'm still worried about why Lewis is acting a little odd today. Well, maybe this is just how he normally is in the morning. It's fine! We will have a good day today! I need to think about what I want to get, he also said I could paint the walls and stuff so maybe we can look for paint.

I'm excited to go to the stores today!
