The summer breeze was a warm caress to bare skin as Aurora and Azriel walked down the streets of Velaris. His hand was anchored to her waist and something about the couple had fae of all kinds parting in the streets to let them pass. Aurora beamed at each person, waving at a few she knew from days at the market or lunches at cafes.
"Hi, Aurora!" A female shouted from the window of a shop as she was packing in various fruits and breads.
"Good evening, Clarisse!" Aurora shouted back, giggling when Azriel tugged her against him.
"You'd think you were High Lady with how many people know you," Azriel murmured. Aurora laughed with a shrug.
"I'm friendly." He just rolled his eyes in amusement and tugged her around a corner. The bareback of her summer dress hit a brick wall, making her gasp in surprise. Azriel grinned down at her, one knuckle brushing her jaw.
"I can't stand how beautiful you look tonight. I don't know if I can make it through without fucking you where everyone can see." Heat rose to her skin when his lips brushed against her cheek. Aurora sucked in a breath, fighting against the utter desire he always pulled from her.
"I think you should learn to be patient, Az. We have drinks to get to," she responded, closing her eyes when his lips brushed hers. The hand on her waist tightened in grip and her skin was buzzing.
"How the fuck am I supposed to talk to anyone when I have these fucking legs that look so pretty around my head?" The hand from her waist dropped to graze over her bare thigh where the hem of her dress was. Aurora tensed, her head falling back against the wall. Every touch rose excitement.
"If you keep this up, Rita's going to put the ban on public affection back up," Aurora warned in a breathless tone. She felt him smile against her cheek.
Cass and Nes had infuriated Rita one night when she spied Nesta straddling Cassian at a booth and most definitely unbuckling his pants. She had placed a ban on public affection that lasted only a few months before people began complaining.
"If Rita saw just how beautiful you look when you finish, she'd encourage it," Azriel responded. That made Aurora laugh and she pushed his shoulders back, giving her room to slip from between him and the wall.
"If you need to go jump in the Sidra to cool off, let me know so I can grab you extra clothes. I'm going to Rita's," Aurora chuckled, eyeing the prominent ridge through his black trousers. He groaned and took her by the waist again before they began walking.
"I know a faster way to get it to go down," he grumbled. Aurora had no time to respond because she spied Nesta and Elain standing outside of the loud business. Aurora waved, her steps quickening as they reached the sisters.
"Cauldron, Aurora. Do you even shop in Velaris? Where'd you get that?" Elain cooed, running fingers over the thin fabric of her dress.
"I got it at the small shop just by the bakery! She has a few others similar to this one in shape," Aurora explained, slipping from Azriel's grasp. She shot him a bright smile over her shoulder when Nesta led the two females through the door. He just rolled his eyes and leaned against the building, more than likely waiting for his mind to clear.
"Feyre and Cass are already three drinks in. Mor bet that Feyre could out drink Cassian," Nesta explained when they shoved through the crowd and spotted the group at a booth toward the back. Indeed, Feyre was chugging some kind of liquid while Cassian was gripping his own cup, panting.
"Couldn't you wait until we showed up? I'm pretty sure I'd beat both of you," Aurora teased as she neared the table. Feyre glanced at her over her cup, fighting a smile as she tried to chug her drink.
