Extra long chapter!

Aurora didn't think life could get any better. She and Azriel decided to take Orion to the cabin for a few nights, and the little boy adored it. He had a snowball fight with Az, made snow angels with Aurora, learned that he did not enjoy the sauna. He did, however, enjoy burying himself in the snow and hiding from his parents. Aurora had panicked several times before demanding he stop burying himself on the mountain top. Azriel found it hilarious, only because he knew exactly where Orion was each time.

"Please, father, I want to see the stars up close!" Orion whined, his face twisting in a combination of pleading and frustration. Aurora was washing dishes from the dinner they just ate, looking over her shoulder to see Orion staring up at Azriel with poured lips. Azriel sighed and looked over to Aurora.

"What do you think? Can I take him on a flight tonight?" Aurora didn't like when Azriel took Orion so high since he didn't have wings of his own in case something went awry, but she trusted Azriel to keep their son safe.

"As long as you both wear coats and get back for bedtime," Aurora responded, giving Azriel a pointed look. Azriel grinned and hurried to the coat closet, tugging out the variety of warm clothes for Orion.

"Thanks, mama!" Orion cheered, hugging her thigh before running over to Azriel. He held his arms out, allowing Azriel to tug on the coat, gloves, hat, and lined pants. Soon enough, both males were bundled and hurrying to the door. Aurora blew Azriel a quick kiss before the door closed and she walked to the window to watch them. Az grabbed Orion and placed him on his hip, one arm around his back and holding onto his leg. With one harsh brush of his wings, they were shooting up to the hazy layer of clouds that covered the stars and moon.

She watched until the overcast swallowed them, fingers tapping on the window sill. Orion adored the stars, especially his constellation, and always demanded to be brought into the sky to watch them. Aurora smiled to herself and finished drying off the dishes. When they were dry, she decided to settle into the couch with a book from the bag Azriel packed. She had brought her own bag filled with her and Orion's things, so Azriel allowed her to stuff his bag full of novels.

Dropping to her knees, she shuffled through the bag for a novel that Nesta had given her just before they left. She was in the mood for a romance book and Nesta always knew the best ones. Title after title, Aurora sat them all aside. It was the first one she grabbed, so it must be at the bottom. Her fingers slipped over a cover, feeling the raised lettering. As she sat it down, one of the pages slipped out.

Sucking a breath through her teeth, Aurora opened the book to fix the broken page. Her brows furrowed when she noticed that it was not a page, but a folded letter. Before opening it, she checked the cover again. It was a romance, but not a book Nesta had gifted her. It wasn't a book she had read before, either. Aurora sat on her rear, crossing her legs and bringing the book into her lap. She unfolded the letter and felt her stomach tighten with each line.

Azriel,

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do. Emerie lent it to me and I think you'd enjoy it, too. Let me know what you think.

All the love,
Gwyn

Gwyn had gifted Azriel a romance novel? Aurora huffed, dropping the letter back into the center of the book and read a few pages. It was certainly one of the provocative novels the four of them shared. This one had two love interests, a mortal woman named Dianthe, and a goddess named- Aurora.

Her heart lurched, fingers nearly tearing the pages as she tried to find the meaning of the two females. Dianthe was a gentle woman who had a love of flowers and light. She enjoyed all things kind, except one. She was in love with a king that spread darkness throughout his kingdom. He had a soul of night, a love for torture. He met Dianthe during a revel and immediately took a liking to her. It was not out of arousal or love for the woman herself, but his desperation to pull the darkness from such a light woman.
