Chapter 1
"Who ate the last waffle?" My brother asked from the kitchen.
I sat guiltily in the living room, stuffing my mouth with the soft buttery pieces, trying to erase the evidence. Gulping down some cold water after choking on my huge mouthful, I licked my plate clean and walked quickly to the kitchen sink. I could feel Collin's gaze on the back of my head and I rinsed my plate faster.
"Carter, you ate the waffle didn't you?" He asked.
"I have no idea what you are talking about." I said back in a sweet voice, avoiding eye contact.
"Carter, I know you ate it."
I shook my head, shrugging my shoulders in what I hoped to be a "not-guilty" way.
Collin took three steps closer to me with his long stride and I shrunk back into the corner.
When he got close he reached out and swiped my cheek with his forefinger.
"You had butter on your cheek," he said, a smirk glowing on his face.
I opened my mouth to try and plead innocence but I closed it again, not willing to look stupid.
"I don't know how that got there." I stated
"Mmmm hmmm."
When I saw the glint in his eyes I knew that I needed to try and make a run for it.
I slipped around Collin and sprinted to the stairs. At the base of said stairs I was tackled and dragged to the couch.
"Okay, I'm feeling generous, so you have two options today carter. One, I can tickle you. Or two, I can sit on you," he said, holding my arms and legs down firmly against the cushions.
"Neither." I replied, wiggling around.
"Sorry hon. That wasn't one of the choices," Collin said happily, "Now I get to choose and I choose," he paused, stroking his chin for effect
"Tickling!"
I shook my head wildly, "Noooooo! Please don't, Collin!"
He just laughed.
Then Collin started to tickle my sides and belly where I was the most sensitive.
I was squirming and breathing hard when Collin got off of me, laughing so hard his chest was shaking.
"Oh, you know I love you, Carter," he said, ruffling my hair and trotting out.
I sat up and I heard Collin yell that I still owed him a waffle.
Rolling my eyes, I stalked out of the living room and up to my room where I knew I could get some peace.
When I walked in I saw my phone glowing on my dresser. I grabbed and saw that I had 3 texts from my dad early this morning. Frowning, I opened my inbox and read the messages.
'Hey we are gonna b home 2nite miss u'
'R u there pumpkin?'
'Can't wait 2 c u'
I smiled at the nickname. After reading the texts again I slid my phone up to text him back.
'Miss u 2! Wen will u b bak?'
I knew that it would probably take a while for him to answer since he had sent those messages a few hours ago, probably when I had been watching The Little Mermaid on dvd. Call me a nerd but I wouldn't be able to live with out my Disney movies; I had a whole book shelf of them.
