Chapter 3 part 2
It was cold. No. Freezing. I laid there on a comfortable mattress with my eyes closed. I had woken up a few minutes before and had noticed 3 things. First, I was covered by a thick down comforter and somehow still absolutely frigid. Secondly, I was in the same clothes from the airport. How I noticed, my arms were bare. And lastly but oh no definitely not least...I was alone.
There was no breathing from Evan or any other person in the twin bed next to mine. I knew this because Evan talked in his sleep. Silly things like he wanted a blue giraffe or that his hamburger didn't have any green cheese so he wasn't paying for it.
Once I got my bearings I slowly opened my eyes. The room was dark not even the moonlight could shine thorough the thick curtains. I guess this was for privacy but at that moment it sure as hell was not the best thing.
I wrapped the heavy comforter around my shoulders and went over to the other bed where I saw a thick white robe. Quickly I grabbed it and pulled it on under the blanket. At the same time trying to keep the comforter on me. It's safe to say it was slightly difficult. Once I was satisfied I sped walked back to the bed and jumped in. Sadly all of the warm that I had left was now gone, replaced with a bitter cold so when my exposed thigh hit the ice sheets I yelped. Damn that was cold.
Right when I was starting to drift off the door was pushed open surprising me and making me fall onto the floor.
"Oh shit! Carter are you okay? I'm sorry I scared you" Evans voice said through the comforter that was now smothering me.
I was trying my best to find a way out of the dark blue cover but was having troubles.
"You sound pissed what's up?" I asked once I had found a way out with the help of Evan.
"The heater broke in this room and the ac had been jammed on 45 degrees for some damn reason" he said angrily.
I found myself trying to hold in laughter. A snort slipped through and Evans head shot up.
"What are you laughing at?" He said, eyes narrowing dangerously.
"Your face was so so...just so" was all I could get out until the giggles came full blast.
Evan rolled his eyes which just made be laugh harder and soon he joined in too.
There was a knock on our door, interrupting our moment. Evan huffed and went to answer it. I heard some lady speaking quietly in what I assumed was Chinese. I silently crept up to Evan and once he shut the door I jumped on to his back.
"Ahhhhh" he yelled.
Evan steadied himself and grabbed my butt to keep me on. I shivered at his touch. His hands were warm and I wanted him to keep them there.
"Who was that?" I asked wrapping my arms around his neck and squishing my body into his back when he tried to put me on my bed.
"That was the owners wife saying that she had only one other room that she could give us." He said finally choosing to sit on the bed and pull my legs further around him.
"Can we go then?" I asked through the moan that was trying to escape.
"Yeah I guess. Our stuff is still all packed."
An idea came to mind and I grinned. "Good now let's go. Giddy up horsey" I said
Evan stood up and let his arms drop off of my legs. I just tightened my grip around his waist and tried to hop up and down.
"Let's go already" I said impatiently in a country accent.
"Do I really have to give you a piggy back ride all the way up two floors with our stuff?" Evan groaned.
