Chapter 3 (Evans POV)
Her head was on my chest her breath on my arm that was around her waist holding her to me. My other arm was around her shoulders rubbing circles on her bare arm.
I had started rubbing her arms when she had shivered in her asleep. I wish that she had worn a jacket even though it had been warm at the airport. Or maybe she could have made my outfit with a jacket or something but then my shirt wouldn't match and ...
My random thoughts were disrupted by a cold hand gripping my thigh. I looked down and my breath caught in my throat. Carter's hand was tight on my leg. My breathing quickened at the contact.
Then I felt her breathing quickening to a panicked pace. Her face was taught and she looked scared. Her usually tan skin was pale.
When she whimpered and dug her nails into my leg I finally realized she was having a bad dream.
I tried to pull her away so I could wake her up and she could see me and know that I wasn't a threat.
I knew that her dream would be of her parents death. Carter had told me her backstory when we were good friends and had said that she had frequent nightmares of how her parents could have died.
When I tried to pull her away she gripped tighter and whimpered.
"Carter, princess, you need to wake up" I whispered
"Noooooo don't leave me please" she said hysterically
"I'm right here baby" I said soothingly "no ones gonna hurt you I'm here"
Suddenly her eyes shot opened. When our eyes met tears came flowing.
To my surprise she pushed her body to mine and wrapped her arms around my waist sobbing into my chest.
"Shhh I know it hurts princess but it's gonna be alright" I whispered holding her
"Why do you want to be with me when I have so much baggage" she said hoarsely when she had stopped crying
"I would want you no matter what" I said pulling her away from my chest so I could look into her eyes.
"What if I said I had been raped" she said seriously
I looked at her take aback. Raped? Was she serious? She certainly looked like it.
Suddenly she cracked up laughing so hard she had to hold my shoulder so she wouldn't fall.
"Oh my lord! Your face!" She gasped " dear god you didn't actually think that I had been raped did you?"
I just sat there to shocked to say anything.
"You totally did!"
"Whatever" I mumbled looking away
Still laughing carter sat in her seat and cuddled up to me.
"I would take you even if you were raped" I whispered in her ear.
Carter chuckled and fell asleep.
"I will never not love you princess" I whispered when I heard her breath deepen signifying she was asleep.

Carter's POV
When I woke up I was snuggled up to Evan. His body heat was making me warm and my brain was fuzzy because of all of the sleep. Good sleep I might add. Since my parents death I hadn't gotten a full complete night of good uninterrupted sleep. Except those times when my nightmares were so bad that Collin came in and stayed with me.
