Grief, Loss of a loved one

Grief,
Loss of a loved one.
Most think the loss is forever
As their soul lays up in the clouds

Grief,
It doesn't have to involve death,
Losing someone from your life hurts as much,
They still lay their footprints on earth,
But those footprints don't go towards you
Not anymore.

Nothing could do you apart,
Everywhere, arm to arm,
Your comfort person, your closest friend,
People come and go, you two said
We'll be here forever, you two said.

Then, you haven't seen them in a day or two,
Text turn sparse, conversations cut short,
In the distance you keep seeing,
Their silhouette, surrounded by other shadows,
Your mind spirals with worry,
The twin shadow is no longer yours.

You reach out
There's nothing to worry,
It's forever,
It will be fixed with a simple sorry,
You talk, everything seems great,
You knew it was always fate,

Then... silence

Nothing changed
Maybe trying a little more,
Just a little more, everything will be okay,
You keep putting effort,
You get nothing in return,
A hard pill to swallow you are given,
Letting them go, that's where we are driven.

Grief,
It's not easy to let go,
You see them with new people,
We used to laugh like that,
We used to hug like that,
Grief.

Platonic love they call it,
Platonic soulmates they call it,
When that love shrivels what should they call it?
It's grief, you lose them
It's grief, you see them
But can't go to them
It's grief, they are no longer in your life.
It's grief, platonic grief

Author's note:

This is not the usual short story nd poems are actually out of my comfort zone. I had to write one for a creative writing club in my school and I really like it. At the time I was going through what people call a "friendship break up" and it was really hard, but by writing this I was able to collect my thoughts and process some of it.
Hope you enjoyed it <3
