No such luck.
When you arrived at mission control, people were buzzing around, responding to the radio call that had gone out over the carnivore radio. You felt sick as you saw the screens and the scene you were seeing. ACU were on their way to the indominus.
"Badge?" The security guard challenged you as you stepped out of the elevator. You both ignored him, heading for Claire. "Guys, I need to see a badge?"
Owen waved him off and Masrani nodded at the guard, telling him it was okay. His eyes flicked to you, but you looked away. He'd okayed the creation of that monster. Luckily Owen saved you from having to find something to say as he headed straight for Claire.
"There are thermal cameras all over that paddock. She did not just disappear!"
Claire sighed, which made your blood boil. Like it was an inconvenience, and not like people had died because of it. Owen had nearly died because of it. The two of them continued arguing about the intelligence of the animal, but you were too busy squinting at the picture on the screen. No way.
"You're going after her with non-lethals?!" You demanded, horror turning your blood cold.
Mr Masrani looked just as horrified, but for all the wrong reasons. "We have $26 million invested in that asset. We can't just kill it!"
Heat flooded back to your cheeks at the blatant disregard for human life. "That team is going to die!" You snarled. Shock showed in his eyes at the feral temper you were showing him. He looked lost for words as you stared him down, daring him to challenge you.
"You need to call this mission off right now," Owen commanded. No one moved. "Call it off right now!"
Claire bristled. "You are not in control here!"
They weren't going to call it off. You knew that, so you had to just watch as the team got out of their vehicles and continued on foot to where the beacon was flashing from.
You watched as the commander moved to pick something up from the ground. As soon as you realised what it was, you knew that this creature was unlike anything else you'd seen on the island. It was too smart.
"What is that?" Masrani asked, peering closer at the screen.
Owen had also realised what it was, and answered slowly.
"It's her tracking implant. She clawed it out. She remembered where they put it in."
Silence. Everyone else was just beginning to understand what you and Owen were trying to tell them. The indominus was lethal, and those people were going to die.
You were about to demand that the team called off the mission again, but then the screaming started.
"It can camouflage!"
You spun back to the screen and wished that you hadn't. It was a slaughter. You were powerless to do anything as you watched each of those heart rates flatline. The entire room was silent, watching on in horror. Owen was the first to speak.
"Evacuate the island."
Claire looked like she was about to cry. "We'd never reopen." As if that was a good enough excuse to risk the lives of everyone in the park.
Owen's eyes flashed as he began relaying every fuck up that they had done that caused the animal to behave the way it did, and exactly what it was going to do.
"She'd learning where she fits into the food chain, Simon. I'm not sure you want her to figure that out." You explained when he was done. Simon looked at you. You knew he trusted you, so you hoped he would listen to Owen.
