Two Months Later...
"SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT," you breathed as you sprinted down Main Street, your backpack full of whatever you'd been able to find in the buildings. Which was to say, not a whole lot. Mainly batteries and sunscreen, some painkillers, and a couple of snacks that you'd managed to scavenge out of a vending machine. The lack of food wasn't the biggest of your problems though, nor was the sick feeling in your stomach.
No, the biggest problem right now was the T-rex chasing you through the park.
In the two months since the park had gone down, you'd only ventured into the main park three times. Clearly the first two times had been pure luck, and now it had ran out... Because unbeknownst to you, Rexy had claimed Main Street as her territory, and you'd just waltzed right in.
Which explained your current situation. You heard her roar behind you, and you increased your speed, quickly darting down a side street and round the back of another building. Then you were flat out again, heading for where you'd left the jeep.
All this for a backpacks worth of stuff You thought, wishing now that you hadn't risked it. If you got eaten for it, you were going to be one pissed off ghost.
You made it to your jeep and jumped in through the open door, twisting the key that you'd left in the ignition and putting your foot down. Just in time too. Rexy burst from the trees right behind you and you swore, gunning it down the road as fast as the jeep would go. She chased you for a mile or so before dropping off and turning around. You let out a sigh of relief, looking down at your fuel tank. It was starting to get low. If you didn't risk a trip to the other end of the island soon, you were gonna be doing a lot of walking from now on.
You pulled up by the bungalow and finally relaxed, though the sick feeling in your stomach remained. You rubbed it a little, wishing it would go away. You hadn't felt right in weeks. It probably had something to do with the lack of food, and change to your diet. For the first couple of weeks, you'd been okay, eating the food in the bungalow. But that had slowly been running out, and you'd been forced to venture out and find any scraps you could.
Your bag today wasn't great, but it'd hopefully take away the sickness so you could actually have some decent rest tonight. Not that that was possible. You hadn't had more than a couple of hours at once since you'd woken up from the crash. Every noise in the night had you on edge, scared that a dinosaur was about to come crashing through the window. Or maybe there was a boat going by, and if you slept for too long, you'd miss it. None of those things made for a good nights sleep, no matter how tired you were from the days events.
You'd only nearly been killed three times. Wait no, make that four times, so far, so you weren't doing too bad. You had been wrong about InGen coming back for their assets though. You'd sat on those wooden steps for six days before you realised that you really were on your own. It wasn't a nice feeling. But the bright side to being stuck in a life or death situation? Not a whole lot of time for pity parties. You had to just get on with it and take it a day at a time.
Once you were inside, you unpacked your haul for the day, putting most of it away in the cupboards. You always left some in your bag though, just incase you ever had to make a quick getaway. So far, you'd been lucky and no big predators had came anywhere near your home. You were feeling pretty confident it would stay that way now. After two months, you figured that all the territories would have been claimed, so you'd be fine. You got the odd herbivore herd passing through, but they rarely got close enough to the bungalow to worry you. A nagging voice in the back of your head told you that it wasn't going to last. Not when you were venturing further and further for food. With your fuel tank running so low, you knew you wouldn't be able to keep it up forever. If you weren't rescued soon, you'd have to relocate somewhere else. Your heart hammered at the thought. It felt relatively safe right now. You knew you wouldn't feel that way if you ventured further into the island. Dinosaurs are scary! You thought so even after working with them for years. Even scarier when there was no fences keeping you apart. But, at least with your jeep, you could escape them easier, so you knew the trip to the other end of the island was a need. But what if there was no vehicles left? You'd taken the only functioning jeep from the aviary, and you knew any other locations would have likely used them in the evacuation, meaning they were probably smashed up in the main park, along side the others you'd already seen there.
