                                            Chap 10, sad
                                NORTH DENVER, 1978

We grabbed the top of the toilet and walked over to where Vance told us to. Finney slammed the toilet top into the wall and we each took turns, making a hole. After about an hour me and Finney got tired and started to drink the toilet water. 

After drinking the water we continued to break the wall, and after about another 2 hours the freezer was visible. We looked at each other before Finney broke off the rest of the wall. Once we took off the panel with a screw from the toilet we threw out enough meat for us to fit.

Finney climbed in and started to try to open it once he got tired I tried to break it with my feet. Once that failed I sat in the corner trying not to cry. I look up at Finney and see tears rolling down his cheeks. 

"hey, hey don't cry" I said. I open my arm signaling Finney to come in them. He walks toward me and plops next to me he puts his head on my chest and his arms around my waist. I put my arms around his neck and lean against the wall.

I could hear him cry and his body started to shake every time he let out a sob. I rubbed his back and try not to cry but I couldn't help it and out a few tears. We really weren't getting out

When Finney stopped crying and I realized I didn't feel anything we made our way to the other room I sat on the bed as Finney answered the phone. I zoned out and didn't really pay attention to the call. I just stared at the ground.

                                        point of view

I pick up the phone and leaned my head on the phone box.

"what" I said barely audible

"Hey Finn. What's happening?" I pick my head up as I realized who it is

"Robin?" I ask as I turn around to look at Lilly who is just staring at the ground.

"Hey buddy, don't cry" Robin says I quickly wipe my face

"im not"

"Yes, you are I can see you"

"You can?" I asked in disbelief

I'm with you. I've been with you and Little this whole time."

"you have?''

"A man never leaves his friends behind. My dad didn't leave his buddies behind when he went to 'Nam. That's why he didn't come home and I'm not coming home either. And I'm not going to leave you guys behind."

"Me, you, and little will be together again soon" I said

"Fuck that. You guys are gonna go like I did"

"We've tried everything. Nothing's work"

''Yet."

"Robin."

"Do you remember what me and Little told you?''

"That we need to see Texas chainsaw massacre with Lilly on her birthday"

"before that."

"That someday I have to stand up for myself"

" "Someday" is today finn. Today's the day you stop taking shit from anybody. You have to protect Lilly.'

'I'm not a fighter like you, Robin or even like Lilly. You could even take him''

You always been a fighter Finn. That's what we have in common. Why we were friends. You were always afraid to throw a punch, but you always knew how to take one and you always got back up every time. "

"I'm not strong enough."

You have to be. You guys are getting out of here. If you can't do it for you, do it for me or even for Lilly."

"What does it matter?"

"Because I don't wanna die for nothing. I want to at least have for my friends,.and because I can't kill that hijo de puta, you have to do it for me."

"how?"

"You're gonna use a weapon"

"What weapon?"

"The one in your hand"

"The phone? "

"Fill the receiver with dirt. Pack it in tight. Give it some heft."

"then what?"

"Then you practice over and over. You raise a phone take a fast step back step forward step back and swing! Try it."

"now?"

"yes! You raise the phone take a fast step back step forward step back and swing!" I did what he told me to do

"again! You raise a phone you take a fast step back step forward step back and swing!" I did it again and again.

"you got it. Now pass the phone to Lilly." Robin said

" after will I still be able to talk to you? " I asked taking a few steps towards Lilly.

"This is a last call. It's all you from here on now."

"I'll miss you robin."

"Then get out for me."

                                            point of view

I feel someone tap my shoulder, i look up to see Finney.

"Here it's for you" he said I grab the phone from his hand. I put it up to my ear as I feel someone sit next to me I scrunch my eyebrows because Finney is standing right in front of me. I looked at my side. I didn't recognize him at first, once I did I gasped and tears well up in my eyes.

"Robin?" I ask even though I know the answer to that. His hair was messy and he didn't have his usual bandana on his head. His clothes had rips in them and had blood on them. Cheers started to roll down my cheeks as I stare at him.

" don't cry Little. Im fine it doesn't hurt no more. " She said as he smiled and hug me. I heard back but this time I didn't go through his body.

It went silent as I wipe my tears. I didn't want to hang up or even move.

"Lilly?" I hear

"yeah?"

" I love you." I pull away from the hug and look at Robin. He his slowly disappearing.

"I love you to Robin." I swallowed the lump in my throat as more tears fill my eyes.

"Ill miss you. And take care of Finn for me. And for gods sake please tell him you like him already. " He disappeared completely and the line cut.

I shake my head and laugh before I drop the phone to the ground.  I look over at Finney

My eyebrows wrinkle, Finney walks over to me and wraps his arms around me as my body starts to shake as I let out my sobs.

Ill really miss you Robin.
