he's awake

You get the word that Miguel had woken up and can have visitors. You and Hawk walk to the hospital to see him. You get his room number and head that way. You stop in the doorway to see Sam on her way out.
"You got some nerve coming here after what your boyfriend did to him" Hawk snaps at her
"I don't care what you think. I just want to help" she replies
"Pretty sure you've done enough princess." He says before walking in.
"It's not your fault you know" you whisper
She turns to look at you before giving you a slight smile and walking away.
You run to Miguel and throw your arms around him.
"Ouch" he winces
"I'm sorry. I just thought...I thought you were dead" you say, tears forming in your eyes.
"Me? Dead? No way. I'm invincible" he says smiling at you.
You hug him again.
The three of you talk for a bit before a nurse comes in and tells you that visiting hours are over. You give him one last hug before you and Hawk leave.
The two of you walk home. You stop.
"You shouldn't blame Sam" you say to him
"Yeah? Why not?" he asks "She started this whole thing. She kissed Miguel. It's her fault he's in the ICU and could be paralyzed for the rest of his life!"
"She's a kid!" you scream back "She was drunk and it was a mistake. How would you like to have that guilt for the rest of your life because of one stupid mistake?"
He gets close to your face
"Who's side are you on?" he says angrily
"Oh fuck you!" you step closer to him. "I've stood by all of you from the moment i stepped foot in this town!" you scream
"Yeah? Well maybe it's time for you to take a step back" he says clenching his jaw
You push him and he falls on his back. You bend down and look him in his eyes.
"Don't you ever talk to me like that again." you start "You're a fucking asshole. Just because you learned how to fight and got a haircut doesn't make you a different person. You're still Eli and you always will be.
He launches off the ground and gets back in your face.
"What? You gonna hit me?" you ask staring directly into his eyes
"Fuck you" he says before walking away.
You sit on the curb and tears pour out of your eyes. You immediately regret what you said about Eli. He was being unreasonable but bringing his past into it wasn't okay. You sit in thought for a few more minutes before getting up and walking home. When you get to the apartments you're shocked to see Hawk sitting on the steps. You wipe your face trying to hide the fact that you were crying.
"I'm sorry" he says looking down at his feet
You walk to him.
"I shouldn't have brought up your past." you respond "That was fucked up and you didn't deserve it."
"I don't want you to stop hanging out with us" he starts "I was pissed off and i shouldn't have said that" he continues
"It's okay. I know it's a sensitive time and the easiest thing to do is point fingers." you say "I forgive you.
"I forgive you too" he says before smiling at you
"We good?" you ask
"All good sweetheart" he replies
He pulls you into a hug and the two of you stand there, frozen in each others arms. You can hear his heartbeat. You look up at him. His face inches closer to yours. You feel his body temperature start to rise. You lean in and right before your lips meet...
"Birdie!" your mom calls from the stairs
He quickly pulls away and you take a step back.
"Oh i'm sorry. Am i interrupting something?" she asks grinning
"Um no we were just.."
Hawk interrupts you
"Talking. We were just talking" he says nervously "I'll see you later"
He gives you a quick hug and walks away
You walk up the stairs and meet your mom at the top.
"Seriously?" you say annoyed
"Sorryyy. I really didn't know he was here" she say's apologetically
You laugh and head inside. You plop on the couch and text Miguel.

you: missing you already😢
miguel: you're lucky my arms still work. otherwise you'd be getting a response typed by my mom lol
you: tell her i said hiii

You turn set your phone down and turn on the tv.
