Awaken

You wake up to hear a knocking sound and a number that sounds like it goes on forever. You walk to the door and suddenly as you put your hand on the knob and you hear a voice...an unfamiliar voice...

"Welp I guess thats it! This is the last do-" as soon as he says that you open the door almost hitting your face

"O-oh hey!" It's a TV with jumbled up wiring and bright teal glowing eyes "Heya Pal! ! The names evratt! Welcome to apeture labs! It looks like you have been ehrmmm...." He looks behind you and listens to the number that is still going on (man you must have been in here for a long time jeez- ) he looks back at you and continues what he was saying

"In here for quite a while! So uhh... J-just follow me! Don't worry! I don't bite! Aha! Well..I mean I'm a TV so I would hope I can't bite!" He laughs

"ANYWAY follow me!" He walks out the door motioning for you to follow you stand back looking confused at how sudden he was. I mean...you JUST MET HIM and you don't know if you can trust him on not

" Uhhh...can I...trust you..? " You say looking confused and taking a step back.

"Heh... Do you really have a choice? I'm afraid there is no escape from apeture labs without coming with me! Oh and as a little heads up...uhm... Just be careful of the neurotoxin! The big boss GLaDOS likes to use that sometimes... you for sure don't wanna be around that stuff! And *sigh*" he mutters something to himself about why does he have to even tell people this stuff"stay out of the incinerator! And please for the love of god do not go in the shower with the turrets! ...you would not believe how many people have done that...."

You take another step back this time with a concerned facial expression " HUH... PEOPLE DO WHAT WITH THE TURRETS?!?! "

He looks at you with an unamused face " I-... Look it's a long story but I'll just say this... please refrain from using the turrets as they will detect you as an intruder. just don't do anything stupid. And please.... No matter what SHE says to you do not tell her I helped.... " He starts going down the hallway at a fairly fast rate

"now if you have any questions. I will be right here! Oh and uh... You don't have a phone on you do you? I can't have another one exploding.."

"N-Noo... I don't...think so..." You check your pockets and yup! Nothing! You look back up and notice that he is far ahead of you and you run so you can catch up to him. You finally catch up and there is awkward silence until Evratt says something

"Well I'm sure you have noticed this but I am an AI.... I am a bit lonely since.... Well ever since the last person died-" your face goes from happy to "what the hell..." and suddenly his goes into a panic "O-OH D-DONT WORRY! I-I PROMISE Y-YOU WILL BE OK!!"

He calms down and says "Anyway is there anything you'd like to know about this place? If not then just keep following me! You continue to follow evratt and decide to ask him about his backstory

" Hm..... Well I'm not the most complicated computer so I might not remember muchbut I'll tell you what I remember! I was designed by a company called aperture Inc! Y'know like the place you're at right now! They designed me to help the scientist ! I did this for 20 years! Then one day...I started to think.... Why am I working to help these humans they don't care about me! I'm a maid for them! Well after that little moment of realization I decided to take matters into my own hands... I am now an independent AI! Oh and I would just like to add that I was right... Humans are quite stupid.." you suddenly feel really...mad...and maybe a little...sad..?"

In a shocked yet sad voice you say " b-but I-Im human..." He replies with

He replies in a guilty voice" Oh god sorry! I....i kinda went on a rant there.. I didn't mean to offend....it's just humans are so... So ignorant! They are blind! Do you know how many humans die trying to fight the turrets?.... More than you think... And when they die they blame it on me! ... So I guess you can say I'm just a bit salty.... But that's what I am an AI! A little bit of intelligence and a whole lotta salt...wait...thats not right is it...I MEAN ERM... I AM VERY SMART AND ALSO VERY SALTY!!" he looks very embarrassed. You decide to stop realizing that this is probably the last time you will ever see your room. You look back at it one last time and continue to follow him trying to catch up. You decide to try and make small talk

"Sooo...uh my name is Y/N I use Y/P pronouns!" He smiles and looks at you

" Oh well then I shall respect your pronouns! I hope you can understand that my pronouns are He/him! And it is a pleasure to meet you Y/N! You can just call me Ratty for short! Anyway! There are some rules you should know about! Rule number one: don't trust GLaDOS! That lying machine only wants to kill you! And I mean this quite literally! Also... Stay away from the showers there were some uh... issues with some of the past humans.... And that's about it! Any questions?" He says somehow still smiling after the comment about the showers... You actually weren't aware there were even showers in this place?!?! It looks so...old and...run-down...

"Sooo....tell me about yourself!" You say trying to not think about the turrets in the shower

" Oh... Um.. my name is Evratt but you can call me Ratty... but if your really curious... The creators named me 05-244-96.... But I think Ratty sounds better. If you can't tell I really hate my creators...they were only one step away from being called mad scientists instead of scientists! Which reminds me... Rule no 3. Never... Trust... Your.... Creators.... They will always screw you over...." He said with a monotone voice.
