THIRD PERSON'S POV.

"So does anyone know why we're here?" Richelle asked.

Gathered on Studio A's dance floor were East, Richelle, and Piper. The three had sat in a circle on the floor, stretching to pass the time.

"Nick didn't say," East informed the two. "He just texted me and said that I have to be in Studio A and bring you two, followed by a lot of emojis. I don't think he knows how to coordinate emojis, let alone use them appropriately."

"Well, whatever it is, I'm sure it's important. Nationals is right around the corner," Piper reasoned.

Whatever reason Nick had called the three dancers, East hoped it wouldn't waste time. They still had to work on numerous dances for Nationals and knowing Nick, he didn't know how serious the competition could get.

"Hey, guys!" Nick's voice alerted the three girls. Their eyes caught him stepping onto the dance floor and heading towards them with Summer following behind him. "Sorry for making you wait. Summer and I were going through a few details." East, Piper, and Richelle stood up, still wondering what Nick called them for and how it involved Summer. "This week, we're doing auditions for the male and female soloists, and the duets, and I have chosen you three to compete for female soloists."

The three girls shared excited smiles. East was ecstatic but proud of herself for being one of the three choices. It meant that she stood out as a dancer on the team.

"Emily's held up but she'll be here," Summer informed them. "We're gonna give you guys some time to come up with your choreo and Nick, Emily and I will be back here to watch and discuss our final decision."

With that being said, Summer and Nick made their way to the office.

"Well, all the best, guys," Piper said to the two.

"Yeah, good luck. May the best woman win," East responded with a grin.

"I don't know about you two, but I don't need luck," Richelle stated, shrugging as she walked off to a space on the dance floor.

East and Piper shared a knowing look before they separated, finding their own space. East couldn't think about the fact that she was going up against her girlfriend and the friend whom she thought as a sister. It was her against her, and the Miss National Soloist title was at stake.

. . .

After being given a good hour, East, Piper, and Richelle gathered with Emily, Summer, and Nick, ready to commence the soloist auditions. After explaining how they would determine the soloist after watching all the auditions and that the girls would be dancing to President, Nick called on the first auditioner, which was Piper.
