Billy didn't dare look at Vine as she pushed her bones back under her skin.

The whimpering sounds she made told him she was in a lot of pain.

But out of the entire night she did not cry once.

Every monster that came into the room.

He cowered in fear.

But not her.

She knew what to do.

He didn't.

He did his best to stay out of the way.

But he didn't listen to her as she screamed commands.

He was too scared, too distrusting.

Not listening to her, often meant he kept unintentionally getting in the way, putting himself in danger.

And when the monsters got to him. he tried to fight back, tried to defend himself.

But he quickly learnt he was outsmarted, outmatched.

There seemed to be no end to the amount of monsters that wanted to taste his flesh and hers.

At one point when Vine and the monsters were occupied with attacking each other he decided to try and make a run for it.

But running out of the cell into the hallway was a stupid mistake, it made him discover everything was much more horrifying out there then what had been coming into his cell.

Deformed humanoid demogorgons hunted him down.

Monsters he had never even seen before clutched onto him.

 Tearing into his skin.

Dragging him further towards a slimy vine creature that clung to the walls in the distance.

Billy arms tried to grab onto door frames as he passed rooms.

But it was hopeless.

He yelled, swore, in desperation.

Flailed his arms about, kicked his legs.

And when he finally thought it was the end for him he found himself desperately screaming her name.

When there was no answer.

He was sure he was done for.

Tentacles reached round his neck aiming to slide into his mouth.

Planning to choke him.

Strangle him.

But before death could even reach him.

She had yanked him from the tentacles, growling angrily  tossing him away from her.

All hope she had given him was lost.

As he hit the far back of the wall.

She had used powers similar to EL's to send him back there.

Her face was darkened.

Her eyes black.

In that moment he didn't believe there was anything good about her.

She hadn't come to save him.

He waited for her to end him along with the other monsters.

But all he saw was her ripping apart any monster that dared to even stretch a claw in his direction.
