Vine had been asleep for what felt like a long time now.
Billy was in his own bed trying hard not to fall asleep.
He was laying on his side, face towards her so he could keep an eye on her movements. And keep an eye on the door.
He was afraid that if he fell asleep Vine could hurt him, get inside his head or the monsters would come and he wouldn't be aware of it, till it was too late. .
Going to sleep felt like a big risk.
But he was extremely tired.
He knew somehow that he had been awake for more than twenty four hours and that couldn't be good for the body or the mind.
Maybe that was something that was making him weaker against Vine.
Maybe she knew. That's why she could get into his head so easily.
He wondered if his body was still completely human or if they had changed him to the point that he would never be able to go back to what could be deemed a normal life.
He wondered if he could ever go back at all. And if he could go back, would his life be better or worse for it.
After all he was still him but he wasn't the same.
Something had changed within him.
The lab had changed him, but what he had been through had changed him too.
He wondered if he would ever get the answers to everything he wondered about, because he felt most of what he knew wasn't the truth.
He felt unsatisfied with the answers he had already received
And more than anything he was concerned over how hard it was to fight the drowsiness overtaking him.
He was certain he wouldn't fall asleep.
He was sure of it.
But next thing he knew he was being shaken "BILLY WAKE UP THEY'RE COMING...BILLY!!"
He felt himself being pulled.
He thought it was Max calling him.
But realized the tone was sharper.
He defensively shoved the shadow hoovering over him.
And as he opened his eyes disorientated, he saw Vine frantically pointing towards the door.
