Falling.. Falling....
I woke up in a house.
Just a house. And I had no idea how I got here.
I just remember falling.
As I looked around, I recognized it. The police station... I thought to myself. How did I end up here, again? Standing up was a challenge. My side was in extreme pain, I'm assuming from the fall, and I had an extreme headache. "Ow.." I muttered under my breath. Just then, a police officer, Officer Legg, looked up from her desk. "Oh, look at that! Chame is up!" She chimed, in a sarcastic tone. "Oh, quit with the stupid nickname!" I said. Chame was short for chameleon, and everyone at the police station calls me that, because... Well.. No one knows my real name, except for me and my mother. Harper Orr, pronounced 'ore'. They call me Chameleon because they usually have trouble finding me. Pretty stupid, right?
"Well, kid, my shifts over, so 'night!" She said, obviously happy to get out of here. No one likes being left alone with me, because they are afraid I'll escape. I always do, but not the point. If I escape, they get fired. I would give anything, and I mean anything, to get Officer Legg, pronounced League, fired.
After Officer Legg, I usually take my chance to escape. The officers after her aren't exactly sharp, and usually have no experience. I can always escape during their shift.
Today, a man called Officer Kolmann was after Legg. When he walked in, I had to restrain myself from laughing. This "man" looked about the size of a toothpick. I could easily escape. "W-what?" He asked. "Nothing.." I giggled. Shrugging it off, he sat down in a chair. "So... How am I not dead?" I asked him. He gave me the weirdest look. "What?" I sighed, "How am I not dead?" I said a little slower this time. "Oh.. Well, you were shot, but Officer Legg barely hit your side. We had to climb on top of a two story building just to get you down before you lost too much blood..."He explained. "Wait, so I didn't fall?" I asked him. He just laughed. "Of course not! You would've been dead! They told me you were clever!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Later~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just as I expected... Officer Kolmann was fast asleep in his chair. This was my time. I took my shoelaces out of the shoe. I began to tie them together, until they formed a long chain. I have done this probably a million times before.
I stood up, and walked towards the cell door. I had tied my bobby pin to the strings, and now, I could pick the lock. Now, for a lot of people, you can't unlock a prison cell with a bobby pin. But for me, it's a bit different.
I inserted the pin into the lock, twisted it the right way, then I pushed as hard as I could against the door. As expected, it popped open. Thank God..
I walked out of the cell, and right by Officer Kolmann. He was snoring, with a pen in his hand. I grinned. I have an idea.
A few minutes later, Officer Kolmann had a note on his forehead written in pen, and a drawn-on mustache. I stepped back and smiled at my masterpiece, the proceeded to walk to the door.
Just as I touched the handle, I heard a gun cock behind me."Don't move." Officer Kolmann spoke nervously. I spun around, knocked the gun out of his hand, caught it, and pointed it at him. "Don't move." I mocked. He raised his hands up to surrender. "Good. Now walk back to the chair, so I can tie you up!" I said. He walked over to the chair, and sat down, but not before pressing the help button on his desk. "Crap! Don't move or I'll shoot!" I said frantically. Any second, lots of police men would be here, armed and ready, because of Officer Kolmann.
I ran towards the door, to find that the police were just getting there. "DROP THE GUN!" One of them screamed. "Yeah... I don't think so.." I said, before bolting down the sidewalk. Immediately, I was being chased by a few cop cars. I took a moment to take in my surroundings. Children, parents, park, trees, shop, trucks, post office, building... Wait, building! Quickly, I ran across the street and into the alley of this building. It looked good enough to climb, so I began.
After climbing for a few moments, I heard shouting down below. As I looked down, people pointed up. They all pointed at me and gasped. "Someone save the little girl!" A woman cried out."Please! I'm 16!" I yelled back, before continuing to climb. "Call 911!" An older man yelled. I rolled my eyes, "Please everyone, I'm fine! Just shut up!" I screamed at them. But that didn't work, of course...
I figured just ignoring them would be best, so I kept climbing until I reached the top. I had to ignore things like "She's gonna fall!" Or, "I'll climb up and save her!" from random people below. It took me a few minutes to finally reach where I was going. I pulled myself up, onto the 3 story building, and lay down. It's been a long freaking day... After scooting away from the edge, I lay down and went to sleep. On top of a building, yes I know what you're thinking..
