Rei's Pov

Dawn filtered it's way past the sheer curtains in her room, it's rays barely grazing against the skin of her bare legs. She was sprawled out on the bedroom floor, maybe having managed to get in an hours worth of sleep the night before. She had mostly spent the night staring at the ceiling, trapped away in her own misery. Sleep had been a constant struggle for her, between her nearly suicidal thoughts and then her nightmares tagging along she was left exhausted. She could still feel the wires in her arms that she had dreamt about last night, they burned her veins.

She sat up, her fingers trailing over the veins on her arm as if that could somehow make the burning feeling go away. Blinking the sleep back from her eyes she glanced around the trashed bedroom with a small sigh, the pillow had been tossed back up onto the bed, her pants had ended up tossed into the bathroom, the comforter was tangled around her in some strange mess that she couldn't explain. Forcing her exhausted limbs up, she stretched her arms above her head to try and stretch out her aching back.

Remaking the room neatly she had made her way over to where her pants were chucked into the bathroom, as tempting as it was to remain pant less the constant watch that was around her made her slip them on. As she was tying the pants onto her waist her fingers trailed over the deep scar on her right hip, it was just one of the many times that she had put Daiki through something he never should have had to go through. It was proof of her incompetence and one more reminder about her mark.

She slipped her shirt over her head, fighting with the zipper on the collar as she proceeded to wash her face. Her attempt to get her hair up was failing miserably, her bangs loose around her face as she exited the bathroom. She left her bedroom, entering the main room as she did every morning. She was running her hand through her bangs, annoyed at the way they were falling over her face this morning.

"Good morning," she sighed out quietly as she shut the door behind her. She waited for Tenzo to greet her back sleepily before day shift got here to relieve him but instead she was met with silence. Rei was nearly in the kitchen, frowning softly to herself she glanced around the apartment for Tenzo. Only to find him passed out on the couch, his arm over his face and his legs sprawled over the edge.

As quiet as she could she made her way to kitchen, opening the cupboard to grab herself a glass of water she frowned at the glasses being just out of reach from her. Rolling her eyes at herself for putting them back that high she climbed onto the counter, reaching up to grab the glass she nearly jumped out of her skin at the sound of the front door opening. The copy ninja opened the front door almost silently, the morning sunlight bouncing off of his handsome features as he did so.

He wore his usual uniform, his crooked forehead protector dropping down over his left eye, his mask pulled up over the bridge of his nose and his dark eye glancing around the room with mild confusion. She couldn't help but to notice the way his muscles shifted under his long sleeve, that pesky Jonin vest hiding so much from her view. Shaking her head to clear away her ridiculous thoughts she shut the cupboard door above her head, just loud enough to catch the silver haired ninja's attention.

Sitting on the counter, she set the glass beside her as his dark eye finally flickered towards Rei. His frown deepened as he saw her quickly put a finger to her lips, gesturing with her head towards Tenzo as she sat on the counter. She narrowed her eyes at his dark one, trying to tell him to silently be quiet so that Tenzo could rest. She held out an empty glass towards him as a way of offering a drink, his dark eye landed from the glass to her for a split second before he shook his head slowly.

Briefly she wondered if he ever took that mask off of his, or if even around his friends it stayed in it's place. Hopping down from the counter lightly she poured herself a glass of water, noticing the copy ninja come and lean against the island in the kitchen. His dark eye had fallen to the shogi board, a far away look in it that startled Rei upon seeing it. She knew that look, that was almost exactly how Daiki looked on his bad days. He was fiddling with a shogi piece, twirling a piece around in his long fingers, his eye a million years away from their current date.
