"What did I do wrong?" Loki asked himself. The prince of Asgard was currently bathing in his chambers contemplating why Sigyn had reacted the way she did.
'Did she not like the view?'
'Did I talk too much?'
'Did I say something wrong,'
He shook his thoughts away and stood up wrapping a towel around his waist. Loki magicked his hair dry and went to his chambers.
"What troubles you, my son?" a voice in the darkness called.
Loki jumped in fear and used his magic to light the torches around his room. His mother was sitting on his bed in her evening gown staring right at home.
"Mother! You gave me a fright,"
She chuckled and then spoke, "My son is never not alert and when he is, it means there is something on his mind," she walked up to him and cupped his cheek, "So what troubles you min lille slange ?"
The prince sighed. Barely anything could be hidden from a mother and absolutely nothing could be hidden from the queen. He placed his palm upon hers before excusing himself to change. He went to his giant wardrobe but knew well that his mother was still outside waiting for him. For she would not leave until she soothed her son's worries.
The prince came out of his closet wearing a simple black tunic and black pants. His mother was seated on his bed with cups of tea on the side table. She patted to the spot next to her urging her son to sit down. He chuckled and went over, and his mother passed him some of her homemade tea.
"Now speak," she told him sipping her tea.
Loki sighed before telling Frigga about how he had teleported Sigyn out of the boring garden party and to the part where she glowed in the moonlight and then shut him out. The queen listened intently, not stopping him anywhere. As he concluded the queen simply let out a small hm.
"Did I do something wrong? Was it something I said?" asked Loki worried.
Frigga gently placed a hand on her son's shoulder, "Twas nothing you did Loki, nor what you said," she removed the arm and walked to the balcony. "The Family of Vanaheim were always a difficult puzzle,"
Loki arched a brow, "However do you mean mother?
She sighed before beckoning him to come over, "Freya and Iwaldi were always such a loving couple, a perfect match. Both seeking power and have some sort of bitterness inside them that one could never understand. But Freya's obsession with herself led to a few problems in their relationship," she looked up at the stars as if they were a book she was reading to her son, "She would do anything to gain more and more beauty. She would pay tons of gold or even lay with the person," she sighed and looked to Loki, "As you know Sigyn doesn't not look anything like her father," he inclined his head in knowing, "The reason of that is because of one of these incidents. Your father of I only knew this much, the rest was kept secret. We don't know her father, we don't know the reason they kept her-"
"What do you mean?" Loki interrupted. "Why wouldn't they want to keep the child?"
Frigga looked to Loki, she seemed hesitant to speak but she went on, "Iwaldi was furious and Freya- she didn't want her. From the second she was born. But something happened, I know not what, but they kept the child. Only the family knows they secret as to why,"
"But what has this got to do with Sigyn leaving?" he asked confused.
"You told me she glowed darling?" she said walking back inside.
"Yes mother, she was as beautiful as the northern lights on Midgard," Frigga smirked at her son. "B-but believe it was due to her being the Goddess of Life and all that,"
"That is probably part of it, but there is something else," she turned to make sure the door was locked. "There have been stories, rumours, that the father of Sigyn was no ordinary man. The powers that you've seen are but brinks of what she can do. They say something was different about her, something Other Worldly even," she whispered.
Loki straightened.
'Is that why she ran? Because she thought I couldn't keep a secret?'
"But all in all, they are just rumours," she said returning to her normal voice. She walked to her son and planed a kiss on his forehead. "Rest my boy, we'll talk more in the morn,"
With that she gracefully walked out of the room and into the corridors beyond. That night Loki did not get a wink of sleep. He laid there all night trying to comprehend what he had heard from his mother.
'Something Other Worldly?' he then smiled to himself. 'She is Other Worldly,'
