Third Person
Diamond woke up with a painful headache. Her heart was still aching and she felt worse than before. She slowly got up, dragged herself to the bathroom to get herself ready and went to eat breakfast.
"Morning Diamond." Mrs Miller said kissing her forehead.
"Morning mom, morning dad," Diamond grumbled.
"Are you okay dear?"
"Fine mom. Just a bit tired."
Diamond's mom didn't quite believe that.
Lionel again?
"Mom? Mom, are you alright?"
"Yes dear, I'm okay." Mrs Miller replies with a soft smile.
"Oh okay..." She mumbles and munches on her breakfast.
Silence envelops the room.
"Diamond."
"Yes, dad?"
"Today you're going to meet Liam."
"Huh?"
"Didn't your mom tell you about meeting someone?" Mr Miller asked confusion taking over his facials.
"She did but why today? It's a bit too soon don't you think?"
"Nonsense it's the perfect time to get to know him dear and maybe you'll like him." Mrs Miller adds on.
"But mom I-"
"No buts!" She says lifting a finger, "Just go meet him. Just this once. Please dear, I promise you Liam isn't a bad person."
"I don't have a choice do I?" Diamond asked with a tired voice.
"Nope." Mrs Miller smiled.
"Okay. what time do I have to go see him?"
"6 pm."
"Ok"
After Diamond finished her breakfast she went to her room to rest up a bit whilst mentally preparing herself for the "date."
Her phone shrieks, announcing a phone call.
"Hey, girl."
"Hey, Aya."
"What's up?"
Diamond sighs in response.
"Oh no, what happened?" she asks, with a worried tone.
"It's a long story."
"Do you want to meet up?" She offers.
"I would but I have a date."
A choking sound is heard from the speaker. "What do you mean a date?" She sputters.
"I'll tell you in detail later. I have to go now." Diamond responds sighing once more.
"You better tell me all the juicy details okay?"
"Okay."
"Good. Now bye, girl enjoy your date. Love you mwah!"
"Bye! Love you too."
Diamond heads to her walk-in closet, where she shuffles about till she found suitable clothes.
She wore high-waisted formal black pants with a paired blazer. There wasn't a need for a top as the blazer buttoned up to the very top. Deciding on black stilettos, she added a watch and a necklace. Her look was complete. Diamond settled on tying half her braids around the back and leaving the rest to fall.
She looked pretty.
Time for dating. She ponders staring at herself in the mirror.
To say she was a nervous wreck was an understatement. Diamond could feel her legs go numb and wobbly the moment she walked into that restaurant and mumbled the reservation name to the waitress.
The waitress led her to a secluded, spot with one table and two chairs at opposite ends. She gestured for Diamond to sit down and she did after muttering a thank you at the girl.
Diamond glances down at her watch. Two minutes early.
Several minutes pass and her date hadn't arrived yet. Diamond had settled on a glass of water as she waits for him to arrive.
A young man, around her age, walks in behind the waitress. Dressed in a neat navy blue suit, he quickly sat down and passed a quick apology for being tardy.
"My meeting went longer than expected." He explains. "I'm truly sorry for being late. Liam Park by the way." He says and extends his hand.
Diamond accepts the hand and gives him a quick shake before letting go.
"Feel free to order." He says and grabs his menu.
Liam was too distracted to notice the stare-down that Diamond was giving him. Diamond saw this as an opportunity to examine him carefully.
Black thick hair styled formally. His navy blue suit hugged him perfectly, showing off his great physique. He looked fresh out of the office. One thing she noticed when Liam walked towards her was his height. He was tall. Quite tall.
6'1 maybe? She judges.
If Diamond was in it for the real deal she would have gone as far as to say that his height complimented her well. Her being five foot nine barefoot made her appreciate Liam's height.
Diamond was so caught up in making her evaluation of Liam that she hadn't realized the waitress talking.
"May you repeat that please?" Diamond asks, softly.
"What would like to have as your meal madam?"
"Spaghetti bolognaise would do. Thank you."
"Perfect. So that's one spaghetti bolognaise and one chicken Alfredo."
Liam nods.
"Your orders will be ready soon. If you would please excuse me."
The waitress disappears into another room, leaving Liam and Diamond alone.
"Tell me, Liam." Diamond begins, sipping her wine. "Do you always go out with women you've never met?"
Liam chuckles at the blatant accusations. "Not always no. Today is a first."
Diamond eyes widen, in fake shock. "Really? You seem to know how to handle such events."
"I guess I have finally mustered the art of hiding my nervousness then."
"You? Nervous? No." Diamond drawls out the no, making Liam's eyebrows perk up in amusement.
His lips lift into a smile. "What can I say? I'm a good actor."
Diamond lifts her glass once more, Liam following along.
"So tell me, Diamond. Do you always go out with men you've never met?"
Seems like Ms Miller had met her match.
Liam's green eyes tingled with amusement as he watched the girl use the same reasoning he did.
"What can I say?" Diamond mimics. "I'm a good actor."
A mischievous smile was prominent on Diamond's lips, happy with her response.
Diamond has left an impression on him.
The good kind.
