Diamond
So how was the date?" Aya asks.
"It was alright."
"You finished dinner?"
"Yep."
"And had dessert?" She ponders her words slowing down.
I nod and munch on my Oreo.
"No plates broken?"
I lift my eyebrows in confusion. "What?"
"You mean to tell me you had a full dinner with this guy and nothing was broken? You didn't even walk out?"
I shrug. "There wasn't a need to.""He didn't ditch you cause of your usual broodiness?"
"I am not broody!" I scoffed offended.
Right.
"If you didn't walk out..." she analyzes stroking her chin. "That means you liked him?"
"I do not like him."
"But you enjoyed the date?"
"Aya!"
Aya lifts her hands in surrender. "What? There's nothing wrong with enjoying a date."
"I didn't," I mumble.
Aya stays silent for a bit.
"Diamond."
"Hm?" I hum looking into her eyes.
"You know that there's no reason for you to feel guilty to admit that you enjoyed the date, right?"
"Guilty? Why would I be guilty?"
Liar, you know why you feel that way right now.
"Lionel." She answers. "Do you feel guilty cause of Lionel?"
I don't answer and drop my gaze to my half-eaten waffles and ice cream. Suddenly, the sweet taste vanished, living a bitter feeling in my mouth.
"You know he's not coming back, right?" She reminds."He's going too. He promised."
"Diamond."
"No, Aya!" I cut her off, startling her. "Let's drop this conversation."
Aya sighs but follows my wish. The tension is soon, long forgotten as Aya and I began talking about something ridiculous, laughing away.
Oh, how grateful I am to have her as my friend.
~~~
"Oh, dear, you're back."
"Mother." I greet curtly, looking over at the shuffling happening in the background.
"What's going on?" I ask, moving my gaze back to my mother.
"The Parks are coming for dinner."
"Why?" I ask, my tone indignant.
"Because I invited them." She huffs. "Now go get changed into something more formal."
"Formal?" I ask, rolling my eyes.
"Yes, formal. Now go!" She demands and shoves me in the direction of my bedroom.
~~~
I dab my perfume onto my wrists, neck, and behind my ears and stare at my jewelry."Good enough," I mumble, packing away my jewelry box.
I stand up and straighten up my outfit. White pants and a black polo-neck.
Classic, but fitting.
The doorbell goes off, signaling our guests' arrival.
A woman who's around my mother's age is also dressed elegantly. She looks as if she was a beautiful woman during her youth. Even at this age, her beauty is still inevitable. Her white skin made her blue eyes shine even brighter. The blue dress matched her eyes, making her look as gorgeous as ever. Behind her is a man who is dressed in a suit and screams power and confidence. His tan skin shone healthily with a pair of bright green eyes. Although he has an intimidating aura around him, he has a fatherly smile on his lips. I'm assuming that must be Mr. Park. Both of Liam's parents are gorgeous, and I see where his looks come from. Expecting to see Liam walk in, I see another man walk in. A younger version of Liam, the only difference being his hair is made up of large curls.
