days like today I often wonder why I chose to become famous.. my life is a complete mess, i'm not happy, I can't step outside my house without being photographed, i'm constantly being accused of being into drugs or being in a fight with someone I've never spoken to. I have no privacy... this is not the life I signed up for... I hate my manager, he does not listen to me and he owes so much money to casinos in both my name and his that I can't fire him because I'll be indebted to the casinos... it's been months since I've seen my family... in a complete total summed up statement I hate my life.
I thought as I sat looking out the window to my backyard overlooking the las vegas strip, my singing career was never supposed to end up here..
"everything okay Ms Devin?" my house keeper asked as she came into the living room from upstairs where she had finished cleaning
"everything's fine" I nodded and faked a smile as best I could.
"Ms Devin, when was the last time you went out and had fun?" she asked
"it's been a while... it just always turns into such a mess and I hate being in the media.. i'm just so sick of everything. i'm sure there's a mob of press outside right now over that stupid rumor that I am dating Channing Tatum." I sighed, pushing my black wavy hair out of my face as I stood up.
"would you like cash today Ms Alma?" I asked as I headed to my office.
"whatever you prefer Ms Devin.. just take into consideration that everyone else opinions of you don't matter only what you think of yourself does.. don't let those gobblers out there define who you are. your the nicest and most humble person i've ever known. the world doesn't know the good deeds you've done but god does, you've done so much good for people and god sees that even though the media and haters don't. your a good person Devin, you deserve to live your life to the fullest without fear of what others think." Alma said as she stood by the door patting down her gray hair.
"thank you Ms Alma.. for everything" I smiled, giving her the pay for the day.
"your welcome sweet lady. I'll be back on Friday" she smiled, hugging me.
I adored her, she was so much like both my real grandma and my adopted grandma.
That night without thinking I hit my head on the lighting fixture I had always hated and knocked myself out... hours later I woke up with a blasting headache in an out of date hospital room with a roommate that heavily smoked.
"what is going on here?" I breathed as I looked around the room before I caught sight of the button to call the nurses in.
"yes Ms Gray?" the answered after I pushed the button.
"hi um what day and year is it?" I asked as the woman beside me looked at me like I had lost my mind.... although at this moment I wasn't sure I hadn't.
"it's Friday January 3rd 1960.. is everything okay?" she asked concerned
" I'm sorry did you say 1960?! it can't be- I - what?!" I panicked
I knew losing my crap wasn't going to help so I did my best to calm myself before I said
"when am I being released?" I asked.
"possibly today once the doctor comes to check you over, he should be on his way now" she answered.
"alright thank you" I blew out a breath before looking around and deciding to get up and try to find my clothes to get dressed.
Finding my clothes in the dresser on my side I got dressed and walked out of the room then found my way out of the hospital.
As I walked out of the front hospital entrance I found not only a city I didn't know but a time I didn't recognize either.
