Righting Times Errors

Chapter 6

As Alma had repeatedly reminded me, I had no control over when i'd wake up from the coma I'd put myself into in the future.

"she's waking up! she moved her hand!" I hard a somewhat deep british voice say from the right side of my hospital bed, along with the noise of someone rushing in the room.

"Devin, i'm here baby please wake up" I heard the same voice again.

"Devin sweetheart it's mom. your brothers are here too. even katie made the trip with us" I heard my mom say.

slowly opening my eyes I looked around the room and saw nearly my whole family..

looking to my right and seeing David sitting there gave me a sense of contintment..

looking to my left I saw my mom, the most important person in my life.

looking around at everyone else, I knew even though I loved the time I spent in the past that I was suppose to be here.. I was meant to live in todays time not Elvis's.

"how long have I been out?" I croaked, my mouth and throat dry from having not dranken anything for however long I was out.

"almost 7 weeks.. you had a pretty nasty crash" David smiled slightly as he brushed the hair off my forehead, looking at me lovingly.

"i was out for 7 weeks" I groaned.

"i'm so sorry i've kept you all held up here, worrying about me. I don't even remember what happened or why i'm here" I said covering my face with my hands.

they all chuckled before mom said

"honey we would have been worried even more worried had we stayed at home while you were here in the hospital. don't be sorry, we're here because we love and care about you sweetheart" she said with tears in her eyes and a slight chuckle in her voice.

"i'm sure you guys are probably tired of being hoarded up in a hospital room huh?" I chuckled.

"just a little but thats okay" my brother Dane said as he stepped forward so I could see him.

"how did you get so much time off?" I asked surprised to hear that he'd been here the whole time.

"i took a leave of absence, being here was more important"

"but what about your pay?"

"i've been using that card you gave me before you moved out here permanently" he shrugged.

"oh so i've been paying the bills" I laughed as I hugged everybody and sent mom, Dane, Jake and Katie off in search of food that wasn't hospital food so I could talk to David.

"have they all really been here the whole 7 weeks?" I asked as he sat on the edge of the bed

"your mom has and so has Dane... Jake came out with the kids about 3 weeks ago and Katies been here for the past week"

"did you get in before mom?"

"just a few hours, I was already on my way to the airport when I got the call that you had an accident so I got here just a few hours before your mom landed"

"so you've sat here in this hospital room with me for 7 weeks straight?"

"i've left left once a week and only long enough to go home and do laundry.. I brought you clothes last time"

"when can I go home?" I asked nodded

"they said once you wake up that you would likely go home the day after"

"okay well once I get released.. I have some things I wanna talk to you about and before you even start thinking about it, no we aren't breaking up or anything like that, I just want to make some changes" I told him with a chuckle.
