NEVEAH MONROE
WORD COUNT: 1518 WORDS
ENJOY!

Zora and I were ready. We had just been waiting on Amir, Azure, and the rest of the group to hang out with one another. It was nine o'clock. The party starts at eleven. It was too late to do anything crazy, so we had planned on drinking just a little before the party.

All in all, I was glad. That meant less time to hang out with Azure. Again, I have no problem with Amir or anyone else, just Azure. I was also nervous.

When I asked Zora for a mini date, I had laughed it off. I had been joking, well, sorta. It seemed that Zora took it literally, because she had actually asked. There was a guy I had a date with in the group tonight.

I don't have that much luck with guys. Since
high-school, even before, I would get crushes and all, but it wouldn't really go anywhere. Now that I'm college, I talk with guys from time to time, but I still can't get myself out of the stage where it seems like it could go somewhere, but it doesn't.

"Okay, they're outside. Are you ready?"

"Yep." I'm the first one to leave the room. Zora walks behind me, locking her dorm. The two of us walk down the stairs. I haven't really been around Amir since
high-school, so I follow Zora, who knows what his car looks like.

Amir was outside the car, waving his hand. Zora and I hurried to the car. Zora gets in the front. I open the door, seeing a guy, who was definitely tall staring at me. He did look cute. I smiled a bit, looking at him.

I guess this was the guy that Zora asked about for me. One thing about Amir, was that he had good looking friends. He got out of the car, grabbing my hand gently. "Hello beautiful." He says, giving a light kiss to my knuckle.

It was a sweet gesture. "Hello, I'm Neveah." I smile.

"I'm Isaiah." He lightly rubs his hand over mine. We had stood there for a second. I heard someone clear their throat, which had got us out of our trance. It was Zora. I gave her a weak smile, like I had been caught for doing something I wasn't supposed to be doing.

Isaiah lays his hand out, opening the door for me. I give a small thank you and enter the car. Initially, I was going to sit on the opposite side of where he was sitting. Azure had been there.

I slid myself to the middle seat. Isaiah had got in, closing the door behind him. I had been squished in between two people. One person, I wasn't complaining about. The other; well, we all know who I'm talking about on that one.

"Hey Azure," I say. I might have mixed feelings for the girl, but not saying anything would just be rude.

"Hey." Azure's voice was curt. She sounded pissed off. What ever she was mad at, I didn't know, and frankly, I didn't care. I wasn't going to let her or her emotions ruin my mood. I had a cute guy that may or may not have taken interest in me, and she wasn't going to ruin that for me by being a jerk.

I buckled myself in, sitting back. Amir looked back, making sure everyone was ready. Once he made his check, he pulled out, and we headed on the way to a mini bar that was walking distance towards the frat house.

Azure, like usual, was being an ass. I don't know what got her upset, but she was angry. It showed in the way she was sitting. She had been sitting in a man position, her knees touching mine. She was spread out, taking up room that should be mine.

I took a glance at her. I looked up, staring at her for a moment. She looked angry, but unlike the last times I've seen her upset, this time, instead of her face, it was in her eyes. She had been staring out the window, well almost. She was staring out the window, but she was zoned out, like she was looking at something else.

I didn't want to look at her, but it wasn't like her. Something was off. I was curious to know what it was. The whole ride, I kept staring at her, taking in secret glances.

I had thought that Azure would eventually catch my glances, and eventually ask me to stop, whether it was whispered to me, or yelled out to maybe call me out. She didn't, which meant that whatever she was mad at was serious.

I decided to leave her alone, no matter how much I wanted to know. I faced away from her, looking on Isaiah's side, looking out the window. Azure moved herself, her knee once again hitting me.

I looked at her, an angry expression on my face. She just looked at me. Her face had been blank. In all honesty, it looked weird. I raised my eyebrow, thinking that she would say anything.

I had been wrong. All Azure did was place her hand under her chin, looking back through the window. I looked out the window once again, seeing that we had gotten to the place.

Seatbelts unhooked themselves, doors opening. I took off my seatbelt. Azure had done the same. She had tapped my thigh. It was a strange and sudden action.

"Get out on my side." She gets out, waiting for me. It seems like Isaiah heard her, and instead of looking back to make sure, he closes the door.

I had debated for a quick second on letting Azure stand there and open the other door. Azure held her hand out, waiting for me. "Hurry up, don't make the others wait for you."

Sighing, I take her hand, placing mines in hers. She moves back a bit, and I place my foot out of the car, getting out. Azure closed the door, walking behind me.

"Thank you." It wasn't a real one, more of a forced one. Nonetheless, I had thanked her, since she had the decency to hold her hand out for me. It had been a nice gesture and all.

Azure didn't say your welcome or anything. I mean, what she did was out of character; well, to me at least, so I didn't really expect her to. We had walked together side by side.

I had entered the hang out spot, holding the door open for Azure. Once we all had been inside, we walked to our table. Luckily, Amir had reserved us a table beforehand so we wouldn't have to wait thirty minutes for a table.

We had sat down in the booth. Amir and Isaiah were on one side, while Zora, Azure, and I had been on the other. It was a good yet unsaid agreement we had agreed on.

Azure once again had sat herself down, spreading herself. I had enough. It was like my ending point. I hate when people settle themselves down in positions that violated others space.

There was a comfortable atmosphere. Most of the people at the table were talking. I chimed in from time to time, laughing when something funny was said and giving my opinion when asked or needed. Combined with the other tables around us doing the same thing, the building itself was loud, the voices becoming one.

I decided that now was the perfect time to tell Azure to deal with her issue about personal space. I leaned to the side. Azure leaned herself to the side so that I was able to whisper to her. "Move your legs. Your in my personal space."

"It's not that big of a deal." Azure hushed back to me. Like usual, she wasn't going to back down to something. She was going to defy just because I wanted something.

"It is to me. If you can't fix the problem, then I'll just ask Isaiah to scoot over. I have no problem doing so." Azure clicked her tongue, scoffing. She pulled her legs back onto her side of the booth, keeping them there."

"Happy?" Azure's voice showed irritation very clearly, which just made it even better than I did that.

"Yes." By then, a waitress had came and asked us what we were going to have. Zora and I had grabbed one of those fruity cocktails, while Amir and Isaiah had a bottle of beer. Azure's was weird. She had ordered some type of drink in a whiskey cup. She had drank hers like a shot while the rest of us drank ours slowly.

Once we had all finished our drinks, we headed back out, slowly removing ourselves from the booth. Azure got up first, her sitting in the opening in the booth. Zora and I had slid out. The five of us had left, on our way to the frat party. As we walked back to the car, all I could hope for was that nothing bad could happen.
