A Long Walk

"Car troubles again?", I mumble.
I try starting my car, but I achieved nothing.
I looked around for my phone and as I go to grab it I remember I killed it taking photos on the way here.

I walk down the humid foggy sidewalk, seeing my breath in front of me. I didn't realize till now the frigid weather felt like a burden, I see a house up ahead through the thick fog, but I cease to approach it due to the odd feeling the right, flickering porch light was giving me.

I walk a bit farther and turn back to look at the house to see if I made a mistake, maybe I misjudge how uninviting it was. I see both porch lights flicker and hear a child giggling.

That was a close one.

I see a car pass by, it's an older model, and the only issue was the little girl covered in blood in the back seat.
I must just be tired.

As I neared somewhere that looked safer, I trip on the road. What the hell?

I looked down it was a child's toy doll.
As I stood up I grab the doll and walked toward a run-down-looking motel.

Finally, I made it to some form of shelter, but when I open the door no one was there, I ring the bell at the desk, and nobody answers. I look around for a bit looking for any person or anything left behind.

And all I see is a missing persons poster with a name on it for a little girl.

But when i look closer the photo is of me.
