A single rose sits on top a grave of a young man; his grieving wife made a widow before their child were to be born. To have herself a life with them is all she wanted. As much as she wanted to move on for their child, she couldn't find someone of his manner. She waited long enough, there had to be a way to get him back. With the intent of her family being together, she sent off.
No one knew how to bring someone back and most believed it to be impossible, but she had to try, everywhere she went she begged and beseeched, wandering endlessly to bring back her love.
Soon enough she was led far enough to find Death, his kingdom destroyed and seemingly unclaimed. Death emitted the coldest chill that sent shivers down her spine, no color existed on his face, he had the tallest stance she'd ever seen, and his lips were clasped shut.
Clenching her coat from the air around her and lifting her head high as possible to get a look, she stated her case.
"Oh, pray tell why he must have gone so soon! For what must be done, what must I give to have him back." But Death didn't answer, determined to have Death answer she stayed persistent. Day after day she'd ask for his service. "Death please, why do you stay silent? Is there really nothing you can say, or do your words of wisdom heave a heavy burden?" She waited, searching for an answer from his piercing glare. Yet again he hadn't spoke, just as she'd almost given up, he caught notice of her stomach beaming with life.
He slowly became smaller in size, and planted a dry kiss on her stomach, after which he whispered, " My kingdom has fallen, no one is around, I creep closer as you sleep but I know your dreams. How could it be that you are lonely enough to sacrifice for your love when you are carrying life? I shall show you what it is like to be truly lonely." His hands broke off from his sides, she cowered afraid unknowing of what was to happen next. He spoke out angrily, " Your greed now has reason, I have let the dead arise. Now your husband has his soul, but no longer the memories from the life he had before. Forever shall you walk the Earth to find him and prove that he could love you if life was done over. Until then your unborn child will stay unborn as a price for the love you longed elsewhere.
He ripped the baby from her womb tearing her stomach apart. "The pain and agony will last forever until you find your lover, now go off on your lonely journey and don't forget the wisdom you begged for.
She crawled away in search for her love, never to be on Death's doorstep again...
