Daniella's POV:

I wake up and just stare at the roof. Who was that woman? Why did she seem surprised by who I was? Why did she know my old name? I am not Damon. Daniella is Damon, and Daniella doesn't remember Damon, so Damon is dead. Daniella wishes people would stop talking about Damon. Because Daniella was Damon, but now she is a she, and she was Daniella.

Why can't people understand that? I hear my phone ding. It's a text message. Yeah, that's what Stefan said it is. I turn to my phone, and it's Caroline. After dinner, we swapped phone numbers, even though she said something. I enjoy her bluntness.

"Hey, Daniella-nova. You going to the Founder Party? I need a date." - CareBear

"Yes, that sounds nice. Do you want to come over to my place to get ready, or yours?" - Daniella-nova

"Yours. I can't wait. Meet you in a couple." - CareBear

"Stefan, Caroline is coming over. We are going to the Founder Party together. Is that ok?" I yell, getting up.

"Yes, that's ok," he shouts back.

"No need for yelling, you're both vampires," Zach yells.

"Sorry, Zach," I yell back.

[Daniella's bedroom was a haven of soft light and comfort, the walls adorned with framed photographs and colorful tapestries. Caroline stood before the mirror, a cascade of dresses strewn across the bed, each one a contender for the upcoming Founder's Party.]

"I don't like the yellow. It doesn't quite suit you. The blue, though, that's definitely your color," Daniella remarked, peering over the top of her book.

"I'm not sold on the blue," Caroline complained, her lips pouting as she examined her reflection.

"Well, I am. And if I'm going to be your date—" Daniella began, only to be interrupted by Caroline.

"We're just going as friends. My mother will be there, and she's a very proud gun owner," Caroline interjected, snatching the book from Daniella's hands and flipping it over. "You were holding it upside down," she pointed out before returning to the mirror.

"That's rather mean, CareBear. I don't have many friends, you know. My memories are all gone," Daniella pouted, feeling a twinge of sadness.

"And that's precisely why I'm taking you," Caroline retorted, eliciting a smirk from Daniella. "Not if you're wearing that dress. What's so special about this Bella girl? Edward's so whipped," Daniella inquired, her confusion evident.

"You've got to read the first book first. It won't make sense if you don't," Caroline explained, prompting an eye roll from Daniella. Suddenly, Caroline shifted gears.

"Are you one?" Caroline's question hung in the air, causing Daniella to freeze for a moment.

"One what?" Daniella asked innocently, though she knew exactly what Caroline was getting at.

"A vampire. Are you a vampire?" Caroline asked bluntly, catching Daniella off guard.

"Nope," Daniella replied quickly, hoping to avoid any further probing.

"Oh," Caroline responded, her eyes betraying a hint of sadness.

"Why do you think that?" Daniella questioned, trying to change the subject.

"I don't know, but now it's your turn," Caroline said abruptly, redirecting the conversation.

"Time for hair," Caroline announced, breaking the tension with a smile. "Yes, I can't wait," Daniella practically squealed with excitement.
