Salvatore Estate, 1864

Stefan dashed out of the Salvatore boarding house, clutching a wooden stake he retrieved from the basement. As he raced outside, a sudden flashback consumed him, transporting him to the doorstep of the old Salvatore estate. A blinding flash of light accompanied the memory. In the haze of recollection, a carriage pulled up in front of him.

First to step out was Birdie Mae, followed by Katherine. She emerged gracefully, her gaze fixating on Stefan as Birdie Mae smoothed out her dress. With a composed demeanor, Stefan approached her.

Stefan approached Katherine with a courteous nod. "You must be Miss Pierce."

"Please, call me Katherine," she responded with a gentle smile.

Daniella's POV:

"Caroline, you must understand something. Whatever I tell you does not leave this room. Promise me?" I implored, meeting her gaze.

"I promise," she affirmed, her eyes steady.

"I am a vampire," I confessed, averting my eyes.

"Daniella, look at me," Caroline urged. "No, I can't," I refused, a tear escaping down my cheek. "Yes, you can," she insisted.

"No, I don't wanna see that look," I choked out. "What look?" Caroline asked softly. "The look that says I'm a monster," I admitted, tears welling up.

"Hey, you are not a monster. You are still my best friend," she reassured me. "You hunt monsters."

"Garlic?" She inquired.

"Edible," I replied.

"Sunlight doesn't seem to be an issue," she observed.

"We have rings that protect us," I explained.

"Crucifixes?" she questioned.

"Decorative," I answered with a smirk.

"Holy water?" she continued.

"Drinkable," I replied, the smirk growing wider.

"Mirrors?" she asked.

"Myth. We literally tried on dresses in front of one."

"There's something else you don't know," I began.

"What is it?" she prompted.

"My name isn't Daniella. It was Damon, and I was a boy," I confessed, staring at the ground.

"Wait, so you were a boy?" She exclaimed.

"Yes, but now I'm Daniella," I clarified.

"Good, I think I like Daniella a lot," she smiled. "So, sleepover?" she suggested. "I'd love to."

Daniella's POV:

I returned home to grab a blood bag and catch a bit more rest, still feeling the lingering exhaustion from the recent events with Foyet. It had only been a couple of days since then. As I lay in bed, fatigue pulling me into a deep slumber, I found myself drifting off...
