Daniella's POV:
I woke up and scribbled a quick note to Caroline, informing her of my departure for the case. Arriving at the BAU, Morgan greeted me as I entered.
"Hey, Daniella, there you are. How was your day?" Morgan asked, his tone casual.
"It was pretty good. A friend and I did a fundraiser for her school called 'Sexy Suds.' And before you ask, it's a high school," I replied with a slight smile, trying to lighten the atmosphere.
"Did you read the case file?" Hotch's voice cut through the room, his demeanor serious.
"Yes, sir," I responded with equal seriousness, recognizing the importance of the task at hand.
"Good, let's go," Hotch directed, leading the way as we began to walk.
As we delved into the details of the case, I found myself immersed in analyzing the Reaper's motivations and tactics. Emily's question about the Reaper offering a deal sparked a discussion among the team.
"He even got it wrong. He won," Spencer remarked, prompting my phone to buzz with a message from Stefan.
"Shit," I muttered under my breath, catching Hotch's attention. Concern etched his features as he addressed me.
"Is everything alright, Daniella?" Hotch inquired, his tone prompting the group to fall silent.
"Yeah, it's just... I forgot to tell my younger brother that I'm on a case right now. He's freaking out," I explained, reaching for my phone to text him.
"Call him. It's better," Morgan advised, his concern evident.
"No, we should be..." I began, but Hotch interjected firmly, "No, Morgan is right."
"Right," I acquiesced, dialing Stefan's number and stepping towards the back of the jet.
"Stefan, where are you?" I asked once he answered.
"Daniella, I'm fine. I'm sorry. I'm working a case right now," I reassured him, the urgency of the situation weighing on me.
"Right, just be safe and come back in one piece," Stefan replied, his voice laced with concern.
"Will do. Love you, bye," I said, ending the call before he could respond, returning to the team.
"Now, that's just plain cruel, sweetness," Morgan remarked, teasingly.
"He'll get over it," I replied with a smile, eager to refocus on the case at hand.
As we continued our discussion, Rossi posed a question about the Reaper's sudden return to killing after a decade of dormancy.
