The drive was quiet. Neither of them knew what to say, nor what to do. Calum had his hand on Y/N's the whole ride, occasionally rubbing hers for reassurance. When they reached Calum's place, Calum timidly walked over to open the door for her. Malaise descended of the two as they sat down on the couch. After a few minutes, Calum abruptly turned Y/N to face him and pinned her tired body down on the couch.
Please, let me show you. Just this one time let me show you how much I love you and you can decide on what to do next... He asked desperately.
Staring into his despondent eyes, Y/N knew he was sincere. He really loved her. And so did she. She had wanted this for so long, but could she let herself loose like that? She had finally got used to the emptiness of not having Calum, what if he left her again. She wouldn't be able get up and dust herself off this time. His eyes were getting more and more desperate, when she pressed a hungry kips on his lips. He quickly deepened the kiss, scared to have her leave again. Calum wanted Y/N to feel the unremitting nightmares he had suffered without her soothing him at night. He wanted her to sense the ubiquitous images of their most beautiful time together haunting him, ripping him apart. He wanted her to touch the seemingly impalpable place inside him like she had. The kiss signified their summit and nadir of being with and without each other. It was powerful, lustful and solicitous. Both were tenacious to let go, despite being out of breath. After what seemed like hours, Calum let go, hovering above Y/N fragile body, staring deep into her eyes, succumbing to her beauty. He whispered:
Luke
Y/N was taken aback
"What?"
"I... I don't know if I could do this to him..." He sat up, letting his head fall to his hands.
"I knew you were gonna say that." Y/N chuckled sarcastically.
"What are we gonna do?" Calum asked, obviously intimidated.
"Look Calum, Y/N sighed. You need to make up your mind. Do you want me or not? I can't keep doing this. Either I am alone or I am with you. Luke and I have decided to stay friends no matter what. So this is your decision now Calum. Work for it." Y/N said sternly, the timid girl a moment ago had gone.
Calum stayed silent. He could not let her go, but he could not upset his best friend either. They both meant too much to him and he could not take side. Calum was lost in his chain of thoughts when Y/N stood up and walked out. Calum ran up to her
"Y/N where... where are you going?" He asked shaking.
"You clearly have not made up your mind before you picked me up so I've done it for you. Two hearbreaks is better than 1 right."
"What are you talking about?"
"You know either way I will not pick Luke. I will never be with him and he already knows that. How can he accept it but not you Calum? I am so done with you being so indecisive. I'm done with you Cal."
Before Calum could reply, she hopped into the cab and left him dumbfounded.
