Stranded In Salem

Day Six

Luca's POV:

The group was gathered next to the gallows. Luca watched as Ollie stepped up & pulled on the noose attached to the gallows. A tube opened up right below where you're supposed to stand on the gallows.

"There's a slide here we can use to get in." Ollie said.
"Wow. & to think this whole time I thought that was a real noose." Mateo chuckled.
"Enough talking about the noose," Luca said. "We've got a mission to do."

She hopped into the slide & started sliding down. Everybody else hopped in behind her. They slid down for a few seconds before reaching the giant foam pile at the bottom.

They all got up from the foam & looked around.

"Good lord, what is this place?" Beau questions, glancing around at the concrete walls.
"&, more importantly, WHY IS THIS UNDERGROUND?"
"I don't know, but this place gives me the creeps. Let's see if we can find the guy behind this." Luca said, walking ahead. The others followed them.

???'s POV:

"What do you MEAN they're MISSING?!"
"W-We don't know, sir! We checked up above & they're all gone!"

Three hooded figures stood before a person whose form was covered by the shadows in the room. He sat in a chair, with a desk. Various screens surrounded him, all with different shots of the town on each screen.

"Well, if they're not THERE, they're in HERE, & we can't be having that now, can we?"
"Of course not, sir."
"Go find them, & stop them. Now."

Each hooded figure nodded, bowing down.

"Of course, sir."
"Understood, sir."
"Right away, sir!"

They all scrambled off to go find the survivors as the mysterious person turned his chair toward the screens, pressing a button. The various shots of the town turned to static, & then to various shots of the underground.

"They won't be out of my sight for very long.." he grinned.

Norma's POV:

The group continued walking through the underground, looking for anything out of the ordinary. Unfortunately, that was quite difficult, considering everything about this place was out of the ordinary.

Norma just couldn't believe how big this place was. All of this was under the town this whole time? It was almost inconceivable to her.

She glanced back at Ollie, who was walking behind the group. Norma noticed Ollie had their hands in their pockets practically the whole time. She couldn't imagine the emotions they must have been going through right now: getting their memories back, finding out they're a test subject.. Norma decided it would be best to not bother them.

As the group turned the corner, Norma (& the rest of the group) heard an unknown voice yell. "STOP RIGHT THERE!"

Looking ahead, they could all see 2 hooded figures standing before them, both holding glowing laser swords.

"Huh? What do you want, & who are you?" Mateo asked, sticking his hand into his pocket & pulling out a gun.

"We are assistants to the boss."
"His greatest confidants."
"His strongest protectors."

They both took off their hoods at the same time, revealing two, fuzzy humanoids. One was green, & the other was purple.

"I'm Grunkle," the green one said.
"& I'm Crinkle." the purple one said.
"& we're here.."

Grunkle & Crinkle pointed their swords at the group. "..to stop you."

To Norma, Grunkle & Crinkle were the types of names to make her laugh. However, with how dire the situation was, not even a single giggle came out of her.

Luca pulled out her gun. "Listen," they started. "We just want to get out of here."
"Oh, yes, we're quite aware of what you want." Grunkle said.
"The boss doesn't want that, though," Crinkle nodded. "& his word overpowers yours."

Grunkle & Crinkle started sprinting toward the group. Mateo shot his gun a couple of times at the two, but they both deflected his bullets. Grunkle raised his sword to slash at Mateo, but Beau slid in to guard him.

Crinkle rushed toward Luca, attempting to hit them. Luca dodged a few slashes, but one got her right on her cheek. They shot their gun at Crinkle. It hit Crinkle's wrist, making her drop her sword.

Luca passed their gun to Norma. "Here, take the final shot!"

Norma nodded, aiming the gun at Crinkle & shot her right in the heart. She screamed, collapsing onto the ground. A liquid poured out of her, but it wasn't red like blood usually is.

Beau kicked Grunkle away from Mateo. They ran up to Grunkle, ready to do some more damage, but before they could do anything, Grunkle sliced at Beau's ankles, making them fall down to the ground. Grunkle quickly got up.

Mateo tried again to shoot Grunkle, but he missed every shot. Grunkle raised his sword & stabbed Beau right in the head, dragging the sword straight down their body. Blood sprayed out of their body. It was down-right horrifying.

"Beau!" Mateo yelled, kneeling down to see if he could help them not die. Alas, a cut going across someone's entire body is a bit hard to fix without a medical degree.

Norma passed Luca's gun back over to them, & they shot Grunkle twice in the heart. He screamed, collapsing to the ground just as Crinkle had.

The two assistants were dead, but so was Beau. The group looked at their body, almost entirely ripped in half by the laser sword Grunkle had. The amount of blood was substantial, covering the floor & some of the wall.

"I.. think we should stop looking at their body" Norma gagged. "It's making me sick."
"I agree. Let's.. just move on & mourn later."

Everyone nodded, taking one last glance at Beau's corpse before moving forward with their mission.
