Chay Has A Secret

After discovering Macau's depression Chay always accompanied Macau to the infirmary in the morning to make sure Macau takes his antidepressants as well as anxiety medication. Chay always watched silently every single time. He also started being more observant of Macau, he started noticing that some days he looked like he lost the motivation to even speak, how he would sometimes just fall asleep during lunch and skip meals and would watch as he would sometimes space out making Chay worry since entering the mafia life made him more aware of his surrounding. Chay occasionally tried to get Macau to talk to him and his friends but it wouldn't work most times. Today was one of the days Macau seemed more lively and was playing basketball after school with some of his friends. Chay watched them from afar feeling relieved that Macau was feeling better today, but at the same time, he was worried that he might have another depression low at any moment. After about 20 minutes of watching Macau and his friends play, Chay started feeling sleepy and decided to lay his head against the pole next to him and shut his eyes for a moment. Then he was forced awake when he felt an arm on his shoulder. Before he could even react the arm was removed and he looked up to see Macau kicking a man on the ground making him confused before he looked at the knife lying next to him that wasn't there before.

"How many fucking times are you assholes gonna try to kidnap us?" Macau said following it with a few kicks to the ribs. "You must be a dumbass to try the kidnap the head of the Minor's family little brother, who's also the head of the Main family's brother-in-law." He said, making the man groan in pain with another hit. Macau kicked the man one more time before he looked up at Chay. "Let's go." He said, making Chay scramble and get his things before following Macau to his car. 

"Thanks." He said, making Macau nod his head softly making Chay look at him softly.

"You have to be more alert. You're no longer Porchay Kittisawasd, you're next in line for the Minor family." He said, making Chay's eyes widen.

"What?" He asked surprised.

"In the mafia, the next of kin is the heir of the family. After my father it was P'Vegas then it was me. But since your brother was made the new head, you're next in line." He said, making Chay look at him nervously. "Don't worry, your brother won't let you live this life, but for now, it's known that you're the heir." He said, making Chay feel uneasy.

"Us?" He asked suddenly, making Macau look at him confused. "You said kidnap us. Have you?" He said, making Macau grip his hands on the steering wheel before he took a deep breath and relaxed.

"You know about only 40% of depression is genetic and the other 60% is caused by trauma or your environment." He said, making Chay look at him confused for a moment before he put the pieces together. "Living with my father was hell, but I knew I could survive him. But being tied up and blindfolded, I had no idea whether I was gonna die or not. I just had to hope that my dad would meet their demands, but that never happened. My 17-year-old brother was the one who walked into that room shooting everyone and rescuing me. As an 11-year-old it's no wonder that fucked me up in the head. I'm surprised I didn't turn out like P'Tankhun." He said. "You know, for two years after that, I couldn't sleep. I kept begging my dad to let me sleep with him and he slapped me saying that I had to man up. Vegas usually had one of his boyfriends in his room so I never asked him but he heard me crying, and would send his boyfriend away and sleep with me in my bed until I fell asleep." He said sadly. "No one should go through that." He said, looking at him sadly. "I'm sorry, you don't need to deal with my bullshit." He said, making Chay shake his head. 

"You dealt with my bullshit. I'm just being your friend and listening to you just like you did with me." He said, making Macau shake his head.

"You have real issues, Chay. I don't." Macau said, making Chay look at him upset.
