Wei Wuxian organized his notes for his lecture as students came into the classroom minutes before his class started. It was usually that way, students coming in early to chat with each other before the lecture started. He never minded the noise, it also helped that it maintained them mostly focused once the lecture started, so he let them talk to their hearts content as he set everything up.
“Wei Ying.” came the voice of his boyfriend, startling him enough that he made a mess of his papers, having to pick them up from the floor, now with Lan Zhan’s help.
Lan Zhan who he had seen a few minutes earlier when they got to campus. Lan Zhan who had never actually visited him during, or well in this case before, lectures. He’d come around to his office once or twice, but never here.
“Did something happen?” he asked, after thanking him for the help with his notes.
“No.” Lan Zhan said, then he handed Wei Ying his tumbler cup, which he knew was filled with very strong coffee. “Well, yes, you forgot this in the car. Thought you might need it.”
“Lan Zhan! You’re my savior!” Wei Ying nearly threw his arms around him, but remembered where he was and simply squeezed his arm then let his hand drift down until he was playing with his boyfriend’s fingers. “I thought I’d lost it. I need fuel to get through the day.”
“Do you want to have lunch at my office?” Lan Zhan offered and he was glad he did, given the bright smile that lit up his Wei Ying’s face.
“Since you came all the way here and invited me so nicely, I’d love to.” he just couldn’t stop grinning. Lan Zhan truly made him happy.
“I’ll see you later then.” his boyfriend gave him a small smile and a gentle squeeze to his hand, which he let go reluctantly as it was almost time for the lecture to begin.
“See you.” Wei Ying waved and watched until Lan Zhan disappeared through the door way.
He really was a lucky man.
Hell, they were both lucky since everything was finally settling down. Dinner with Lan Qiren went without complications. At first the man seemed a bit apprehensive by their relationship, questioning everything about them as a couple and then Wei Ying’s career, which he soon found satisfying because his whole demeanor changed and he seemed content that his youngest nephew finally had a partner.
They can finally live their lives as they please without the constant pressure of their families and that gave them so much relief.
“Settle down, break time is over, time to learn people!” Wei Ying clapped, grinning at his students' disgruntled faces.
Lunch couldn’t come soon enough. Ever since he met Lan Zhan, the man had made sure that Wei Ying had a full stomach and more often than not they shared at least one meal a day. Now it was leading to starting a tradition with having lunch together at work, which thrilled Wei Wuxian. Those kinds of routines seemed so domestic to him, it brought a warmth to his soul, plus spending time with Lan Zhan was always great.
He made his way to Lan Zhan’s side of campus. A few students or teachers stopped him here and there, which made him just a tad bit late.
Once he arrived, he got nasty looks from a few students in line outside of Lan Zhan’s office, most likely because it seemed he was cutting the line. He hoped it was that.
“It’s lunch time kids.” He grinned at the disgruntled students.
“We know. We just want to be first with our revisions as soon as Professor Lan is finished with lunch.” One sighed, looking into his bag and pulling out a granola bar. “Professor Lan is very meticulous.”
