It didn't come as a surprise just how well they settled with each other. They managed to spend time with each other even if it was just being in the same room grading papers and not really talking much, knowing they had company was enough. It now became a tradition to have lunch together at work.
No one questioned them anymore; their relationship still surprised some but gone were the interrogations about it. Which meant that their whole plan had worked. They could now live their life peacefully.
"I can't do this anymore," Wei Wuxian groaned, falling back to rest on the carpeted floor of Lan Zhan's living room. "My eyes are killing me. I swear I'm seeing double now."
"Should we get dinner?" Lan Wangji asked as he glanced at his boyfriend laying down facing the ceiling but his eyes shut.
"Yes! There's this small restaurant that sells the best wontons and noodles in this part of town. I'm sure you'll love them. Let's go!" Wei Wuxian got up quickly, gathering his things and waiting for Lan Wangji to meet him by the door.
They spent more time in Lan Wangji's apartment than they did at Wei Wuxians, mostly because he lived alone, so Wei Wuxian made it his mission to know every restaurant nearby, just in case Lan Wangji wasn't in the mood to cook. (Lan Zhan was always in the mood to cook but he indulged Wei Ying in going out to eat).
Once they reached the restaurant they quickly made their way to a booth.
"I've read great reviews about this place," Wei Wuxian grinned.
"It does look good." Lan Wangji gave him a small smile at how giddy he looked while looking at the menu.
Their food arrived quickly and Wei Wuxian couldn't help but moan in delight once he tasted the wonton.
"It's delicious." Lan Wangji nodded in approval, trying his best not to let Wei Wuxian's moans affect him. His boyfriend wasn't trying to seduce him, he's just enjoying his food.
He's enjoying his food, not seducing you.
Think of cute fluffy bunnies.
Lan Wangji kept repeating those words like a mantra to stop his body from reacting as he tried to eat.
"What's on your mind?" Wei Wuxian questioned, more curious than ever when his boyfriend's eyes widened slightly at the direct question. "You've gone all frowny on me. Do you not like the food? We can go someplace else."
"No. It's not that, I really like it here." Wangji sighed. "I-"
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." Wei Ying reassured him, placing his hand over Lan Zhan's across from him. "Just know that you can tell me things, even if they're silly. I love listening to you."
"Thank you." Lan Zhan gave him a smile. Even after all these years knowing him, it still made his heart beat faster whenever the other smiled at him.
They found themselves changing the subject to something safer, not that Wei Ying knew but still, talk that didn't have Lan Zhan fighting for control imagining his boyfriend moaning because of him and not the food before them.
*
The next morning found them laying in the living room floor having fallen asleep as they'd talked over a bottle of wine, that Lan Wangji only served Wei Wuxian, and they'd just been so tired from work and everything else that neither moved as they'd gotten sleepier.
"You're so comfy, Lan Zhan." Wei Wuxian snuggled closer to his boyfriend's chest, rubbing his nose along the beautiful neck. He also smelled devine, not that he was about to say that outloud, trying to be as subtle as possible as he inhaled the deep sandalwood scent that drove him crazy and comforted him at the same time.
"Hmm." Was Lan Wangji's response, pulling Wei Wuxian closer with his arm around him, his thumb rubbing circles on the sliver of skin showing on his boyfriends lower back.
They stayed like that for several minutes, both basking in the softness of it all. Their little bubble of comfort popped when Wei Wuxian's stomach grumbled. Both chuckled at the noise and after a few seconds they sighed.
"I'll cook you breakfast." Lan Wangji turned his head and said the words to the crown of his boyfriend's head.
"Us. Cook us breakfast. You should eat something too." Wei Wuxian squeezed his arm around Lan Wangji's chest.
"Okay. Cook us breakfast." Lan Wangji placed a lingering kiss to his forehead.
"You're the best boyfriend." Wei Wuxian lifted his head, grinning down at the beautiful man below him and kissed his chin before sitting up to stretch. "I'll go wash up."
Lan Wangji stayed still, only following his boyfriend with his gaze as he left to the bathroom. He looked incredibly in the morning, he looked incredible from the back. He felt amazing pressed to him and-
Lan Wangji shut his eyes tightly, bringing the palms of his hands to them as he tried to calm himself. Fighting off the urge to just follow Wei Ying, crowd him against the wall and have his way with him before breakfast was a lot harder than he'd expected.
All the while, Wei Wuxian held his breath as he walked away from temptation in the living room but not resisting the urge to sway his hips a little more than usual. He knew he had a great bottom and Lan Wangji may have a professional poker face, but more than once Wei Wuxian had caught him staring at his ass longingly. It had to mean something. Right?
The longing was hanging in the space between them.
It was all just a matter of who gave in first.
