"I honestly can not believe that she won the Homecoming Queen!" Cassie said in between bites of her zebra cake. She sounded more depressed than mad.

Kabria chuckled and slightly pushed away the bagged bottle away from Cassie . "Get over it Cassie! It happened! Just accept it. Plus slow down on those cakes and whatever is in that bottle. We still have a football season to finish."

I know the point of these Cheer-Get-Togethers/Sleepovers was to hang loose, but Cassie was going a bit overboard. The main reason we do this is so we can get away from the drunken Homecoming after parties (at least that's why I come here). We do a mid-season girls night and it's always after Homecoming, on the exact night so here we are at Kenzie's house while her parents are out in Cincinnati for the weekend.

Cassie gave Kabria a saddening look, which surprised me. Cassie (despite her size) is still very threatening, so seeing her like this is a once in a life time thing. "How can I forget about this?" She looked at me. "And how could you just let her steal your crown? I feel so sorry for you."

I straightened the hem of my pajama shorts and scooted to the edge of Kenzie's bed. "Me? She was the one who was forced to dance with a guy that she doesn't even like. If anything, you should be sorry for her."

"Never be sorry for her because once she has your pity then she'll use it against you. That is why Brett doesn't call anymore."

We all looked around at each other wondering the same thing: Who the hell was Brett?

Kenzie scooted closer with curiosity practically leaking from her ears. "Who's Brett, Cass?"

"He was the only person that understood me. Seemed like the only one to care, too. You guys remember when I told you about how my parents cheated on each other when I was in the 6th grade?" Her voice was cracking and getting softer my each word. She almost sounded as if she might breakdown.

"Well after the divorce and the custody meetings, he was the only person that understood me. He was a friend form camp and we kept in touch. He would even change his schedule so he could go to camp the same week as me. I remember us going to camp like three times each summer.

"Then Brett moved to Reynoldsburg the summer before we started high school and..."

At this point Cassie was crying. I've know her for three years and have never seen her cry once, until now.

Alejandra wrapped her arms around her friends neck and let her son on her shoulder. This is almost the saddest thing I've seen. Next to Bambie's mom dying.

"You know what?" Cassie stood up, wiped her years and tools another big swing of her drink. "I'm not gonna stand for this. First me and then my friends."

After she screamed the last word, she threw her half eaten Zebra Cake that nearly missed my head.

"Okay. Calm down. Before you hurt somebody." I warned.

Alejandra stood her up from her spot with Cassie. "Alright big girl, we're going to a magical place called the bathroom because you are drunk. It's only a matter of time before you puke."

As they walked out Kenzie made sure to say, "Make sure she vomits directly in the toilet!"

We all waited until they were out of ears reach to continue with the major gossiping.

"I didn't know she liked anyone named Brett. I didn't even think that she knew anyone named Brett." I confessed, but on the other hand I haven't known her long. The only person that has is-

"Alejandra!" Kenzie screeched. "They've known each other for the longest. Maybe she knows something."

Kiki shrugged. She wasn't looking sure about the claim. "We know how closed off Cassie is. Yeah, they're good friends, but she wouldn't just give out her feelings like sidewalk lemonade."
